Mike - You REALLY want to turbocharge a Mustang?

Then I seriously suggest you start with the V6. It's high-revving nature and better balance makes it a perfect platform for turbocharging - certainly better than the V8. You'd have something totally unique, like a custom-built EcoBoost Mustang ("MikeyBoost"?) - and it would kick ass.

And the insurance would be a lot better than the GT as would the MPG.

Of course, I have the PERFECT car for you:

Silver V6 "Mustang Club of America" edition, with a stick, the Performance Package... AND the Lava Red interior which is gorgeous.

I like the NA 5.0L I'd just get a Boss and get a custom coilover system installed and throw on some Hoosier A6 track tires and call it a day.

I absolutely love that wheel and tire combo on the V6.

What a 'sleeper' that would be.

Yep.

I just drove the car; the V6 just WAKES UP at 4500 RPM and then its a rocket. I can just imagine the car with a turbo, what a blast that would be!

First thing I'd do to this car is remove the stripes and I'm off and running.

Oh yeah, Mike, it has the ambient interior lighting that you love.

Twin charge it with a rear mounted STS turbo system rockon

“The build sheet is the wish list of any racer: lightweight high-revving dry-sump LS7 engine; carbon-ceramic brakes; integrated coolers; true aerodynamic downforce, and a significant reduction in curb weight. This car could only come from Chevrolet, and could only be called the Z/28.”

I'm really not a fan of rear mounted turbos, it's a recipe for lag. You want those suckers as close to the exhaust manifolds as possible.

I can't see why anybody would think the back of the car is a good place for the turbochargers. You press the throttle, then wait for the exhaust pressure to get to the back of the car, then you wait for the turbos to spool, then you wait for the intake to pressurize, then you finally get your boost.
