I know its not in your area (I don't think), but Dakota's were some nice trucks, and a great value.

You really can't go wrong with a rust-free Tacoma. Problem is they retain value really well so it'd be hard finding one in your range. Once you do, though, you've got a bulletproof truck. Just watch that episode of Top Gear.

If they're not painted on then all you need is a heat gun and they'll come right off.

RE: What to get?
I have a '92 S10 Blazer 4x4 with the 4.3L that I'll sell you smoker

I've replaced it with a GMC Sanoma extended cab 4X4, this was actually my Grandfathers truck and didn't want to sell after his passing. Although I already had a truck it works out better for my ski business since all I do is primarly pull skis with them both.... you just can't go wrong with a truck for work duties.

This is exactly like the one I have now, but dude the camper and those wheels have got to go! Those are older Blazer wheels... they look retarded on the GMC truck.

My Grandfather had my Truck since new and had '0' issues out of it, it's now got 173,000 miles on it. It's got the 4.3 CPI Vortec (200 hp) and it's pretty peppy, more so than my Blazer but it's got a lower hp version of the 4.3L

RE: What to get?
Regardless of what the fanboys say, at your price point you should be more concerned with age, condition, and mileage than make or model. I can assure you that you'll find as many junk S10s as you will junk Rangers, you'll also find as many decent S10s as you'll find decent Rangers. Do yourself a favor and forget about brand loyalty, buy the truck that gives you the absolutle most for your money.

RE: What to get?
I think nell mentioned it but what about a Subie forester or outback. Just watch out for the 2.5 they tend to have head gasket issues, but if theyve been replaced as many already have you should be good.
