rockon

My guess is it will have a Camaro-themed front end on it similar to the Chevelle model pictured in a recent thread.

I also like the name Chevelle. I think it is very fitting. :2thumbsup:

I like the chop posted of the yellow Commodore with the Camaro grill and wheels. It works very well.

RE: Yet another confirmation: G8 to return as a Chevrolet
What I'm thinking now is, the MY2012 Chevy Zeta will more than likely be a Commodore with a different front end and rear end.

Now, an MY2014 Chevy Zeta, I'm thinking now, will be different. Seeing as Buick and Cadillac are both getting a Oshawa produced Zeta, I could see the Chevy also being built at Oshawa. Buick and Cadillac are both getting a "Premium Zeta" that was shelved back in 2009, but has since been brought back into development and is being made slightly better. I'm thinking, the MY2014 will be using a North American Zeta II platform.

For 2013 the Commodore will be moving to Zeta II. There is already VE Commodores roaming around with the slightly revised chassis underneath. We can't keep importing them from Oz though because the exchange rates now suck, we will not see a version of the MY2012 under $30K. Production will need to be moved over to Oshawa.

The MY2014 will be the proper American Zeta. It will be the Zeta Impala we all yearned for. This car will be Chevy's flagship sedan(not the Impala, which sucks). Styling will be all new, along with the interior, hopefully they won't design it like the Camaro and make it feel like your sitting in a cave. Engines will most likely premiere the Gen V, with a Turbo V6 possibly slotting underneath. Starting prices will be starting in the high-$20K's not accounting for inflation. This car will be a Charger fighter.

Now, everything I have just said about the MY2014 is completely speculative. Look at it like a educated guess from someone who knows.

The MY2012 will most likely start at about $30K. Base engine will probably be the 6.0L V8 already in the Commodore. Expect about 360HP and 25MPG(fuel economy is up on the Series II). That engine WILL have an available manual tranny, I can assure you all on that. The other engine is most likely the 6.2L LS3, expect 425HP, not as good fuel economy, and available manual tranny. The MY2012 will have Holden's iQ system, navigation most likely available. USB, Bluetooth, internal HDD and all that jazz most likely standard.

Any other questions feel free to ask.

Also GM will most likely force Holden and dealers to sell fully optioned models to keep profit as high as possible seeing the poopy flavored exchange rates.

RE: Hey DOC.. They're Saying the Holden Commodore is COMNG BACK.. Call it Chevelle

vexner;12132 Wrote:The Challenger, although it sells at about half of the rate of the Mustang and Camaro, is successful. It's the 3rd best selling car in the class (2 door coupes...others are there than the Mustang and Camaro) and when you compare the retail sales of the Challenger to the Mustang and Camaro, the gap closes considerably (a very large portion of the Mustang and Camaro sales are fleet/rental...not so the Challenger). Also, since the Challenger is based on the 300/Charger platform, cost is spread out across the platform...not so the Mustang as it is a one off platform...ditto the Camaro in US production (shares a Holden Australian platform though).

Furthermore, the Challenger is a good "halo" car for Dodge and it also has the highest "would buy it again" of any American model.

The Challenger should not be compared to the Holden/American mistakes made thus far.

...and it should not be called Chevelle. It should be called what it is...a Holden Caprice. Actually, what should happen is let the current FWD Impala expire, let the Malibu replace it, and the Holden version called the Impala...in the historical sense, that's the correct way (and the Malibu should actually be renamed the Chevelle witht he top trim model of the Chevelle being called "Malibu").

Trouble with your post is that

Sales: Camaro 71,521
Mustang 64,171
Challenger 30,964
U are trying to vindicate the Challenger by saying that 100% of 'em are Retail while at last 50% of both the Camaro and Mustang are Fleet... I call BULLSHIT.

I kno that U are using 2009 Fleet Sale Statistics, and as I said before.. at the old forum...
Here's a tid bit from JULY.. where U and I got into this same silly argument:

Cmicasa from the OLD Forum Wrote:but I'm looking at the 31,330 RETAIL Camaros vs 27,007 Fleet and Retail sales combined of the Challenger... ON TOP of the FACT that the Camaro missed 4 months of sales in 2009... then thinking... U shouldn't have even brought this up.. cause it makes the Dodges sales look even weaker than I thought they were.

Camaro missed Jan, Feb, March and half of April and it's RETAIL sales alone topped the Challenger's TOTAL sales by almost 5k Units

Currently the Challenger has a $2500 Rebate on it, Mustang $1000, and I can't find a DIME on the 2011 Camaro

#3 And are U telling me that the Camaro and Mustang are not "Good Halo" cars for Chevy and Ford??? Come one.. even U aren't that foolish to believe that shit.

Casa...you posted a link for retail/fleet/rental sales figure. Do you still have it...or better yet, an updated list? If I remember correctly, the Challenger's fleet/rental sales were about 1/3% wise of what they are for the Mustang/Camaro.

The point of my post, more than anything else, was someone comparing the failure of the G8 to the Challenger...which is not a failure. Would it be if the Challenger was the only vehicle based on the LX platform and the platform was specifically developed for the Challenger...no doubt. But it's not as it's basically a shortened wheelbase 2 door Charger/300.

The Mustang is a single use platform...it better sell in numbers.

The G8 was an import from Australia...and the Camaro is a unique to America vehicle based on an Australian platform...it also needs to sell in numbers to justify the development.

...and nowhere did I say when you figure out fleet/rental sales did the Challenger beat or top the Camaro/Mustang...just that the retail sales totals are closer than the total sales indicate.

Rebates...I said nothing. However, rebates are typically used to clear model inventory when a new/updated model is being brought out. Challenger is being updated.

...and nowhere did I say the Camaro or Mustang were not halo vehicles for their respective makes. My comment was that, because of the shared platform, Dodge can make the case for the Challenger even if the sales figures are not 100K units per year. Quit putting words in my mouth.

...and the Holden should be called "IMPALA and IMPALA SS for the performance model". NOT Chevelle.

Yeah, Chevy Commodore wouldn't sounds bad. They should be like Hyundai though, and just call this the Camaro. With no styling similarities whatsoever.
