Ive noticed G8's dropped dropped in value immediately after Pontiac's demise, but in the last year it seems like some have gone up in price.

I have no desire to wait years for a new car. If I need a new car it'll likely be another G8.

The insurance company is not under any constraints geographically so they can have a car shipped in. They probably also have access to GM auctions and may be able to find a car that came off lease, so you may get an even nicer car.

Shame about the car though. It always hurts to see a beautiful vehicle get totalled but as others have pointed out, the car can be replaced. You can't. I'm just glad you are okay.

Yeah, I wouldn't want to drive a car that was in that bad of an accident. Their is the chance of shotty work, and just knowing how bad it was before. Not too mention its almoat worthless after.

It won't be repaired at just any body shop. If it can be repaired the Chevrolet dealer that is getting an estimate on the damage will repair it with genuine GM parts and the repairs come with a lifetime warranty. As for resale value, I never planned on selling the G8 anyway, at least for a long time, so that doesn't matter too much to me.

Just because it's a GM dealer means they do quality work. I know from experience on that one. :>(:

This thread is really saddening to me. Such a beautiful car, and it looks terrible now. There's no doubt that she's totaled. Glad to see you're ok, but it's a sad day. Hopefully you will find another you will be happy with.

It's orange and has the sport/premium packages. I can't tell if it has a sunroof or not and the Craigslist ad is from the 26th so I don't know if it is in fact still for sale but I think it is. And the only down side at 37,000 miles it has 3,000 more than mine.

Not sure if you could tell from the pics I posted - but this car has the two tone (black seats with red inserts) interior which looks pretty sweet. I also think the price is a little steep but sure it's negotiable. :yeeees:

I'm sorry Getchoo, It is a sad day for sure. Glad you're ok. I literally almost cried when I saw the pics. I hope you get another one you really like and maybe won't have any problems with. I wish you the best of luck.

I wanted to see that interior, so I found it on the dealer's site. Sure looks pretty sweet!

Thanks man, I was just about to post the dealer site. When I took pics of the car it was late night, the glare off the over head streets lights was blinding so the ones I took (through the glass) look terrible.

RE: In a pretty bad accident yesterday...
The estimate for the damage is in, $26,000. Apparently the damage was worse than it looked and so the G8 is totaled. We'll see just how much we can get from it but I am strongly looking at the one for sale in Worth, Ill.

Wow, that's pretty bad. I kind of figured it was totaled which sucks, but hopefully you'll find the right one, again. With less electrical bugs lol.

Unfortunately it's a good thing it's totaled. You really don't want to own a car that's been that badly damaged. Down there do you have no-fault insurance? It will suck if you see a huge insurance hike.

We'll talk with our insurance agent about my rates going up. It wasn't my fault, and we have the police and the witnesses at the scene to back that up, so they probably won't but you never know.

RE: In a pretty bad accident yesterday...
Well you have to remember that the insurance company is also handing you a large check.

I had an at fault accident when I was 16. It was just over three years ago, and once that 3 year point hit I couldn't believe how much my insurance rate dropped. I can't say I'm complaining...but I didn't realize that accident affected it that badly.
