Gix - you definitely want this car to be totalled. The good news is that you can ask for a replacement vehicle. The insurance company is not under any constraints geographically so they can have a car shipped in. They probably also have access to GM auctions and may be able to find a car that came off lease, so you may get an even nicer car.

Shame about the car though. It always hurts to see a beautiful vehicle get totalled but as others have pointed out, the car can be replaced. You can't. I'm just glad you are okay.

It really is amazing how good cars are about protecting their occupants these days. Accidents do appear out of nowhere and often leave no reaction time. That's when you need the car's structure and safety features to work. Glad the G8 had your back.

Hey man - Not sure if you've found out whether your car is totaled or not (sorry didn't read all through the thread) but was at Randy Marion Chevrolet the other night and ran across this. Didn't know if it was totaled that you might be in the market for another G8 GT, they're not easy to come by for sure. I didn't know that Randy Marion had a lot in Hickory until the other day, I do go through that way from time to time when going to Boone but basically go I40 to 321. I hadn't eat so got off on Hwy 70 to go by Zaxbys and then noticed the Randy Marion car lot as I was about to get back on 321.

We haven't heard anything yet but I have been looking at cars just in case and thanks for posting that one. It has every thing I want and the color is my second choice. The one that really has my eye is this one in Worth, Ill.

It's orange and has the sport/premium packages. I can't tell if it has a sunroof or not and the Craigslist ad is from the 26th so I don't know if it is in fact still for sale but I think it is. And the only down side at 37,000 miles it has 3,000 more than mine.

Also, just a suggestion, you could always save up all your pennies and wait for Z2SC. Just saying, it'll be lighter, much more efficient, and the pricing structure will be nearly identical to the G8 GT and GXP. Plus there will be a manual option across the board.

Ive noticed G8's dropped dropped in value immediately after Pontiac's demise, but in the last year it seems like some have gone up in price.

Yeah, I wouldn't want to drive a car that was in that bad of an accident. Their is the chance of shotty work, and just knowing how bad it was before. Not too mention its almoat worthless after.

Sorry to hear about you and the G8.

I had a head on a little over a year ago. I didn't think my car would be totaled as the hood and fends weren't even damaged but in the end, it was toast.

I kind of wish I hadn't seen it coming like you. I had about 1 second before impact and it wasn't a good feeling.
