Cleaning your Engine bay.
I am thinking about cleaning my engine bay because its is one grimey ass place and rotaries are known for their "cleanliness." I read that Simple Green is better than your typical degreaser as it isn't oil based and won't harm the environment, and take any coating off of the engine bay. I want to do this eventually but I was wondering, apart from protecting the electrical connections, is there any thing else I have to worry about? Also, how do you guys go about cleaning your engines and do you put any kind of polish on it to make it shiney?

I love pussy, I love bitches, dude I should be runnin' PETA.

fuck the environment its already screwed up in my opinion besides i think the whole green thing is just to make more money.. think about it all that organic shit and shit literally i mean there is some serious cow shit on your apples from the fertilizer.. yet its organic because its better for u but why the extra cost??? i mean doesnt it cost more to wax those apples in the factorys.. rather then just throw the apple in the basket..anything that says its green is bullshit..and go for the cheap shit lolcfguard like how i compare engines to apples..see guys im good lol

dish detergent my friend dish detergent

RE: Cleaning your Engine bay.
Biodegradable degreaser and a thick soft brush, attached to a 4' pole, and you will have the cleanest guilt-free engine bay ever.

Oh, and it usually takes a couple tries, as you see where you missed after the first attempt.
Spraying shit on does not clean everything. You still have to touch it, and a brush is the best way.

Mine is just dusty and has a few greasy spots, I really just need to spray it down to get rid of the dust, but im afraid id hurt the electronics.

This country can’t be knocked out with one punch. We get right back up again and when we do the world is going to hear the roar of our engines. Yeah, it’s halftime America. And, our second half is about to begin.

I'll give it a shot Wings. I don't think I have a soft brush like that so I might have to get one. Do you leave your engine on or turn it off?

SRT, yea I am worried about my electronics too as they are pretty much wide open.

I typcially leave it running for a few seconds as I hose it down gently, avoiding alternators and electronics…then shut it down and brush her down thoroughly, getting everywhere I can. Start high, under the hood, and work it. The softer the brush, the better. That way it works in between crevices and parts. Then gently hose down again while running. Rinse and repeat if real bad. No matter how hard you spray some of those films, they don't come off unless you rub them. I have done this for years, and do it every spring and maybe once during late summer. My engine bays always look as good the day I sell them, as they did new. Helps to sell too as people are always shocked just how clean a 100K motor can be.

The brush head I use has a 8" x 3" pattern, and the bristles are at least 2" tall. I also use it to wash the car, it is that soft. Attaches to a handle to make it easy too.

Rev - I've had very good luck with Simple Green, it's a great de-greaser.

RE: Cleaning your Engine bay.
Hell,I just spray some Purple Power on it and let it soak then spray the entire engine.
and I wash my engine bay every few washes.

RE: Cleaning your Engine bay.
Well, I mean, I don't have any valve covers or anything to show off so its not like I have anything that needs to be in show car condition. My intake manifold is mostly plastic so its all black and my throttle body needs to be completely polished but I'd take it off in order for me to do that. I guess I can polish my CAI but I have a project I am working on and I have to do that project first so I don't plan on going crazy on it.

RE: Cleaning your Engine bay.
Rev, this is how you should clean out your engine bay...

Take out Renesis.

Scrub.

Accidentally put a 20B in there..

...and then you have a fast AND shiny car! :tounge:
