It is after all the ancient 4L60E that was used in everything.

That will be the cheapest and easiest I'm sure. You can always do bolt-ons for some small power gains with the 4.3, or you could boost it if you want to fork out the cash. Not sure of any other options.

If I do go the SBC route it will def. be the LS1 or LS6 engine that finds its way under my hood.

Exactly! From what I read it basically had the same intake manifold style used in the LS motors and that alone increased the horsepower to 260. I wonder if someone, somewhere knows how the intake was made and is making them for this motor. Still really sucks.

If you were to go the V8 route I would definitely go with the LS engine, it's smaller and lighter than the previous gen V8. I've had several friends with S10 with a V8 and will say it's a challenge because they're not much room under the hood, especially finding headers to fit around the steering rod. I know this would be more expensive but ever since I sold my Xtreme I've wanted a Vortec turbo, you can get some serious power with one but would need to modify the engine to prepare it for the boost. I know some don't but it limits the amount of boost you can run.....I'm a high boost person so at least 17 psi is just getting started

There's a guy here at Mooresville Dragway that has a GMC Syclone, the biatch is right cause he's running 5.80's at 124 mph in 1/8 mile :ifyousayso: But one good thing he has also is - AWD

The nice thing is companies are starting to recognize the S10 LS swap so they have Headers that fit and I think Moroso makes it but there is an oil pan available to clear the crossmembers. Wiring kits are available and PCM upgrades, too.

If you want to be different, keep the V6, because anything you can do to a SBC, you can do to a 4.3L V6 (it's basically a 350 with two cylinders cut off).
