I was dissed on Car Fanatics about the Chevy Cruze Eco having two MPG better than the Focus SFE and I didn't give it credit. Oh LAWD. What is the world coming to? lmao

The insult was just in there for shits and giggles. Glad you enjoyed.

Since everybody here is arguing about 0-60 times in compact cars aiming to be green, I figured what the hell.

But really...I swear you're gay. :yeeees: EDIT: Dammit I forgot about that filter...

You all know we had a 2012 Focus at our dealership on Wednesday Feb 23, right? I got a chance to sneek a peek at the trip computer. The car averaged 39 mpg at approx 70-75 mph over a 60+ mile run.

And it was no strippy either, but a well-equipped SEL hatchback.

Anecdotal evidence should never be prefaced with "heres a cold hard fact for you"..

lmao

“The build sheet is the wish list of any racer: lightweight high-revving dry-sump LS7 engine; carbon-ceramic brakes; integrated coolers; true aerodynamic downforce, and a significant reduction in curb weight. This car could only come from Chevrolet, and could only be called the Z/28.”

Cmicasa the Great XvX;51898 Wrote:and AGAIN.. just like in the Elantra test vs the Cruze I have to wonder what the frak is going on:

While the performance numbers show:

C/D TEST RESULTS:
Zero to 60 mph: 7.6 sec
Zero to 100 mph: 21.3 sec
Street start, 5–60 mph: 8.1 sec
Standing ¼-mile: 16.3 sec @ 89 mph
Top speed (governor limited): 121 mph

FUEL ECONOMY:
EPA city/highway driving: 26/37 mpg
C/D observed: 21 mpg

2011 Cruzin Cool like a MOFO

C/D TEST RESULTS:
Zero to 60 mph: 8.9 sec
Zero to 100 mph: 27.8 sec
Street start, 5–60 mph: 9.4 sec
Standing ¼-mile: 17.0 sec @ 82 mph

FUEL ECONOMY:
EPA city/highway driving: 24/36 mpg
C/D observed: 25 mpg

as I asked before hereLINK LINK when the Korean National brought up the Elantra

How does a 3045 lb Focus that's supposed to pull in 26/37MPG pull in a combined C/D observed: 21 mpg???

While the 3206 lb Chevy that's rated at 24/36 (combined 28) pulls in a combined C/D observed: 25 mpg???

Either C&D Dogged that Focus engine like a 16 year old with the keys to his father's new Camaro:ifyousayso:... or they completely took it easy on the Cruze driving it like a church lady.

SOMETHING DOESN'T ADD UP..

But I'm still waiting on an explanation of this from the usual suspects

Cadillac UNLIKE BMW.. provides RELIABILITY with their ULTIMATE DRIVING MACHINES... unlike Lexus.. provides ULTIMATE DRIVING MACHINES with their RELIABILITY.

U're my boy Burg.. but Spooks gotta point.

Dude U sell these things. U gotta Eat.:yeeees:

I'm pretty sure that if I sold Toyotas I'd tell people that the Corolla was chick magnet... and that I once beat a guy in a new Mustang GT at a stop light sprint. I would leave out the fact that the Mustang's clutch never left the floor and that the Corolla had a big magnet in the trunk

Did U see what I did right there... with the Corolla.. with the Mustang???badass

LOL...you had to quote yourself just to make sure we were paying attention......roflrofl

Anyways........you still stuck on those observed mpg numbers. I bet I could "observe" better numbers than they did. Might even "observe" worse numbers with the Focus considering how well it drives.

but but... aren't OBSERVED F/E numbers closer to the actual numbers in mixed driving than EPA ones???

Spin at will

Yeah I see what you did, bro, and I'm willing to concede that the car we had was a pre-production prototype. So... let's wait until actual production cars are tested side-by-side in the real world before any of us pass judgement.

And I really don't care if the Cruze is #1 and the Focus is #2 or vice-versa, just as long as both of them together are running the table.

RE: Ford Focus SFE certified at 40 mpg on the highway
A quick tech discussion:

I know that the Cruze and Focus will both offer a simple aero trick that has been used before where shutters close the grill for max air flow around the front, based on engine temp and mayber air pressure too (speed). They both should have a fail-safe mode, whereby if the device fails or there is no vacuum, then they stay fullly open.

What I want to know, is if GM was smart enough, like Ford was, to use that feature in several ways. I know the Focus will actually close off on cold mornings, to allow the engine temp to raise quicker, which is good for emissions and of course cabin heat and defrost.

I have looked around, but have not seen that to be the case.
Correct me then if I am wrong, but oops GM. Shudawudacuda.

Also,
can't wait for a comparo. I don't think there will be any contest based on the fact that Focus chassis and handling, combined with performance, will easily put it ahead.

And lol at those who think adequate acceleration, especially in a smaller car, does not matter to "98%" of potential customers.

A number taken right out of someones bowtie ass.laugh
