1997 Accord for $3800 OTD?
Ok, this is for a friend of mine who was a member at CF 1.0 but never posted much.

A local dealer has a white 97 Accord that is very clean. It's been on the lot for awhile, and he recently reduced the price. My friend got him down to $3800 out the door. It's a white EX sedan with alloys, sunroof, Pioneer CD, I4 w/VTEC, and an automatic. It's got 131k miles.

KBB suggested retail is $5000, and private party is somewhere between $3500-$4000. The car is in great shape, and it's hard to find clean, low-mileage Hondas for a decent price.

I told him that if it's what he wants it's a good deal. Any thing to look for? Good price?

Do it! I would jump on this car bro, if its clean and been taken care of then go ahead. Just make sure it hasn't been hit. A trick one of my managers told me is that take your fingers are run it along the edges of the doors, the fenders the hood and the trunk and see if you can feel a ridge from where they tape it off. If you feel a ridge, it was probably repainted because it was hit. Just a little tip I learned.

He and I are both excellent at finding problems with cars, but that is a good trick Rev. One time I was certain I was going to buy a Silverado after I totaled mine, and once we got to the dealership and looked it over I noticed that the front end looked brand new, and the dates on the headlights were newer than the model year. I'm certain the truck was in a collision, and I stayed clear.

Before he agrees to buy I'll go back up there and look it over completely. When we first looked at it everything looked good, and I didn't see any signs of a collision.

Walk away. That's the same Accord I had for a couple months that was nothing but trouble!

It had 100K too.

Don't do it. I would get a Ford Taurus or Chrysler cloud car of the same vintage.

The best there was and the best there ever will be.
