OF course.. U would celebrate something such as this. roll eyes

While I am no fan of Chrysler since the Fiat takeover.. they are still considered to be connected to American/Domestic car makers GM and Ford. This is a collective issue that could negatively influence potential buyers to those companies just as much... IF CHRYSLER DOESN'T HANDLE IT SMOOTHLY.. which it seems as though they are trying to do.

What I mean by the statement above is that I have noticed on many occasions that Foreign car buyers very often hold GM, Ford, and Chrysler in the exact same light in terms of reliability. A Check Engine light is the ULTIMATE alarm setter in people's mind as far as quality is concerned. It quite frankly scares people into a panic, when very often it could be something as simple as a lose gas cap.

When they tell their stories to their friends.. it's very seldom followed by a " but I forgot to turn the gas cap all the way which caused the fuel tank pressure sensor to send a signal to the computer in an effort to prevent excess evaporation emissions from escaping"

What the friend hear's is "Oh that new Dodge U bought and have been raving about has the Check Engine light on.. That's American/Domestic/UAW workmanship for U."

I hope they are able to completely isolate the issue immediately.. and this is the first and only hiccup with the new engine

Well stated. I am a fan of Sergio Marchionne and FIAT Chrysler, but I recognize that Chrysler is the historic laggard in quality improvement. Quality improvement is a major focus for Sergio. Any hiccup is bad, not just for Chrysler but for other domestics. Cmicasa's observation that the domestics are often viewed collectively (partly due to the UAW) is spot on.

The Pentastar is a good engine design but defect free manufacturing and consistent high quality are critical to Chrysler's future business success. By relying on a single V6, it makes manufacturing excellence on that engine critical.

Similarly, we need the Dart to have a clean launch and prove up the other new Chrysler engines like the Tigersharks and the FIAT MultiAir turbo.

I would be a little nervous about buying a V6 Chrysler product until they get to the bottom of the issue. It appears Chrysler is working to resolve the issue in a timely manner, so with a little luck, it won't hurt them too much.

I don't know if we'll ever know if it was a personnel issue (one or a few workers) or a technical issue that the best worker wouldn't have caught. The periodic UAW drinking and toking on lunch hour stories don't help the quality reputation.

LOL, at the drinking issue. It is not like it is only happening at Chrysler. It is an industry wide problem.

My family has had nothing but Chrysler products for over 30 years, vehicles from time periods when Chrysler had more recalls, got worse reviews and surveys, and was generally worse. And I've had little or zero problems with every single one of them.
No amount of recalls stating "This or that could happen if pigs fly, hell freezes over, and you put your shirt on backwards", will phase me. I have zero anxiety at the thought of purchasing any modern Chrysler product, bar the Jeep Liberty, Compass, and Patriot.
