Jeep president Mike Manley said the company would make a decision on whether to build a ute version of the Wrangler “pretty soon”.

The American off-road brand has been playing with the idea of a Wranger ute for some time, presenting a two-door load-hauling concept called the Gladiator back in 2005.

The Chrysler group aftermarket arm, Mopar, has even come up with a conversion kit called JK8, which transforms a regular Wrangler into a ute

That is due in either 2015 or 2016, which means Jeep is right on the cusp of locking in whether a Wrangler ute is part of the line-up..

Jeep needs a broader range of vehicles other than SUVs and crossovers, so a pickup would be a nice addition!

The Gladiator should have been made, look at it... It was made in 2005, and it looks exactly like the 2007-present Wrangler does.

Hell, Mopar is doing aftermarket conversions, so it is possible.

the Wrangler is supposed to be re-designed around that time, with added flexibility to increase the number of models. they can hardly build enough of them as it is too

I would honestly buy one if I had the money. There is so much you can do with that thing. The Pentastar V6 has been reliable so far with plenty of power and fuel economy (I have to admit I had my doubts, I loved the 4.0L I6). This would be awesome.

If this becomes true, I also think I would buy one if I can afford it. A Wrangler pickup just sounds so damn cool. Like almost having the Comanche back.

Hell, you have something to tow your fun stuff around and take to Home Depot for those home improvement runs and a daily driver thats good in any bad climate. I like the current Jeep Rubicon a lot but I would much rather a pickup so I have a bed to toss stuff in and keep the cabin clean. This is a good idea.

I like how the Gladiator had some room behind the front seat to store things that you didn't want to get wet. If they make a full-size cab for over the bed, I may also be interested. And that hunter green looks great!
