I have a feeling that Ford will be expanding the hybrid tech to other models, probably the Escape,
and it would make sense to offer it in the Transit Connect (for taxi or delivery vehicles).

A CUV goes against ALL of those criteria. FE gains would be minimal, as would be sales. People buy the bigger vehicle to tow and haul families and stuff. That is the main customer. Again, not something you can do with a vehicle biased for max efficicency.

In time however, electrification will proliferate everywhere. In the interim, GTDI will advance quite a bit and is a better fit for heavy vehicles.

So using this would be the same as the previous attempts with things like the Tahoe and Chevy 1500? Minimal city gain, highway loss, utility loss, and much more money. If that's the case then like Rev said, a few would buy them (I think for status more than anything). But they would serve no real purpose other than to exist.

I think that hybrids appeal to certain type of person, which is usually 180 deg from who drives trucks and SUV’s. And because the gains are minimal, added to an already expensive vehicle, so are sales.
