EVERY big manufacturer starts with Temp hires that can go Full time/permanent.

When I worked for Pratt & Whitney way back in the day I started as a Temp for $17 and later went Permanent for $32. (Although it didn't take 5 years) This is how the world works.

In this economy just having a job is a good thing. Let's see $12 hour vs. $No an hour. Tough choice.

True. But employers are definitely using that to their advantage. Bait the hook with the tiniest worm since u know the fish are starving.

Same here mopes, I'm just now raking in 13.00 an hour. Wish I'd have gone to school straight out of high school. Back in the 90s you could get a job out of high school around 20 an hour and everything was way cheaper back then. Now everything costs way too much and you can't hardly find 10.0" an hour unless you have bachelors degree in some pork major.

Same here, you and I must be about the same age (just turned 35). I'm in a position that I can go back to school to get a certification to switch career fields (to the oil industry). Look into seeing if you can go back to school...it's really the only way. If nothing else, you have a backup.

I'm 25... never too old to go though regardless. A supervisor where I work is finishing his Bachelors in Business this year and is 46.

My main problem is I can't decide what the heck I want to go for, but I should just pick one thing and do it, anything is better than this crap. yeeees

The main thing that sucks about this Nissan situation though is not the pay. In all honesty I think starting them at 12 an hour and letting them progress to 19 an hour is a reasonable setup. The bad part is that they are getting no seniority, no benefits, no vacation time, etc. over the span of 5 years. That would BLOW.

That would blow...and at any point in time, they can let you go for no reason. No write-ups, no final warnings, nothing.

ALso, you said something about being in the 90's...just assumed that you were my age. LOLZ
