The A-class premium compact car will arrive in European showrooms in September and will launch in China next year. It will go on sale in the United States in 2014.

The vehicle is based on a new architecture called MFA (Mercedes Front Wheel Architecture) that eventually will underpin five variants. One, the B class, already is on sale.

In addition to the five-door A-class hatchback, Mercedes-Benz also plans a small crossover, a coupe-styled four-door patterned after the CLS, and a yet-to-be-confirmed cabrio.

Looks good. I'm usually not a fan of Benz

“The build sheet is the wish list of any racer: lightweight high-revving dry-sump LS7 engine; carbon-ceramic brakes; integrated coolers; true aerodynamic downforce, and a significant reduction in curb weight. This car could only come from Chevrolet, and could only be called the Z/28.”

I love Benz but they've never IMO made a good 'cheap' car meani g compac class. Trying to remember the one that was a hatchback from like 10 years ago... Not only was it ugly but a total POS from the few that I knew had one.

Better luck this time around!

Those C-Classes were big piles of shit, they were ugly, cramped and seriously unreliable. The regular W203 sedan is a much nicer car.
This is a genuinely great looking car and it would be great fun to drive whatever stupid-fast AMG variant they make in the years to come.

Yeah those things were unreliable as all get out. If you see one on a lot anywhere I guarantee there's about a million messages on the dic. Hell even the light bulbs didn't last on those things lol

Heck a "high class" German luxury car maker makes a piece of junk you don't hear a word about it. But the D3? They make one crap car and they're eternally doomed to being considered the worst carmakers in the world. thumbsdown

Yeah every car maker has that one product that "shit the bed" .

The D3 made shit for decades which is why they still carry a poor reputation around. The Germans never made particularly reliable cars but their automobiles surpass the world in every other measure.

That being said, Mercedes has frequently come up short over the past decade. But this new A-class is going to be sweet.
