Production-ready 2013 Nissan Pathfinder revealed
Nissan
Photo credit: Nissan When the Nissan Pathfinder was originally introduced more than a quarter century ago, it became known as the perfect family adventure vehicle. With each successive generation, Pathfinder has remained true to that original premise, while evolving to meet the changing needs of its owners. Now, Pathfinder adds an unprecedented level of premium style, comfort and thoughtful technology – including a dramatic new aerodynamic exterior design and innovative, flexible interior – as it gets ready to debut this fall in an all-new 4th generation Pathfinder design. A special preview of the new 2013 model, the Pathfinder Concept, showcases what is nothing less than Pathfinder re-imagined. “As Nissan has expanded its range of adventure-ready SUVs to include Armada, Xterra, Murano, Rogue and JUKE, Pathfinder maintains its very important position in the heart of the lineup and the market – as a right-size, 3-row/7-passenger SUV with the seating and cargo capacity that growing families need,” said Al Castignetti, vice president and general manager, Nissan Division, Nissan North America, Inc. “As families spend more time in their SUVs everyday as well as on weekends, the next-gen Pathfinder is stepping up with enhanced comfort, innovative technology, increased fuel efficiency, and most importantly, more flexibility for the family.” Read more. ![]() ![]()

greyhairedpete;221963 Wrote:They're changing the name to "Mall finder". Same thing was said about the Explorer - and the truth is the Pathfinder & Explorer will be very evenly matched. Yeah, I hate to see the old Pathfinder go away but the operative word is "old". It is not space or fuel efficient, doesn't handle that well. It is as stout as an anvil and vastly capable offroad, something 98% of its owners will never discover. The new Pathfinder is tailor-made for current market conditions. Its essentially a giant Murano (much as the Explorer is essentially a bigger Edge) and this will be a good thing for us. While I will bemoan the loss of yet another true hardcore offroader, at least we still have the Xterra.

Lol mall finder
“The build sheet is the wish list of any racer: lightweight high-revving dry-sump LS7 engine; carbon-ceramic brakes; integrated coolers; true aerodynamic downforce, and a significant reduction in curb weight. This car could only come from Chevrolet, and could only be called the Z/28.” |

IMO design-wise it doesn't look bad... the problem is that they turned it into a crossover

So is this more expensive than the Murano? I'm not that familiar with their range of SUVs...

I always liked the rugged look of the Pathfinder. This does seem to violate the model's heritage. But as Burg points out, that's no different than the Explorer. Witness the impact of CAFE regulations. Fuel economy will drive a lot of changes and reduce the range of choice, while increasing purchasing costs for consumers.
If Nissan translates the Altima's fuel economy to the Pathfinder it will do well with suburban families. _______________ Free Agent auto customer, released by Mercury June 2, 2010 |

Since the new Pathfinder is essentially a slightly decontented and restyled Infiniti JX, anything written about the JX will apply to the Pathfinder.
