Lexus will hold the World Premiere of the new Lexus LS flagship sedan at a special invitation-only event in San Francisco on Monday, July 30.

The 2013 LS will be available as the LS 460, LS 460 L long wheelbase, LS 600h L hybrid sedan and the all-new LS 460 F SPORT.

More information about the new LS will be available at 8:30 p.m. PDT on July 30, following a live webcast of the reveal on Lexus.com and facebook.com/lexus.

In every iteration I have driven of the Lexus LS, it has cried out for a Sport model.

The LS, for me, has embodied (because it is the epitome of, and also because it is the 'flagship') what Toyota has become. The maker of competent, allegedly without peer - reliable cars of little soul and even less excitement.

Maybe this Sport model will change that perception (at least to me, because I will make it a point to test drive one).

I will say on the outset, I think the trend of Asian carmakers (especially in their luxury marques) continuing to design the ugliest front ends is 'alive and well'.


But then again; BMW, Mercedes and Audi are having their own contest of worst front end designs in history going pretty strong too.

I don't know if the LS really needs this. The sport versions are not high sellers and the engine development costs and .....ah why do I care?

I doubt they'll add any powertrain changes to this, because it's not a full blown F model, just the F Sport.

Looks pretty damn good. However the side profile doesn't look all that different. The front finally has character like its German competition.

F sport is equivalent to BMW's ///M sport package.
This isn't the LS-F.

The LS already had it refresh 1-2 years ago. On Monday we will see an entirely new car.
