GM engineers are putting the next generation Chevrolet Silverado through the final paces at the company’s proving grounds in Yuma, Ariz. This water test is part of a rigorous product validation program that has helped make Silverado the most dependable, longest lasting full-size pickup. The new Silverado will start production in 2013.

Damn I didn't know they were almost done

“The build sheet is the wish list of any racer: lightweight high-revving dry-sump LS7 engine; carbon-ceramic brakes; integrated coolers; true aerodynamic downforce, and a significant reduction in curb weight. This car could only come from Chevrolet, and could only be called the Z/28.”

They don't really have that much time left. From what I have seen the 2014 truck is supposed to be all new,, not a refresh. They have been seen doing testing in Colorado and a few other places also. If this is to be all new for 2014 they only have about a year to work everything out before we start seeing them on dealer lots. Should be less that that before journalists get a hold of some demos.

From what I have seen there will be no new motors, at least one is being dropped, and the remaining will all get a power boost. I think the 5.3 is getting tuned to compete with the Ecoboost in power and fuel effeminacy.

So the new Silverado / Sierra will not get the new V8? I figure they will also drop the ancient 4.3L in favor of the 3.6L for base models.

I'm trying to find where I was reading about it. All I remember at the moment is one engine is supposed to be dropped and the rest are getting power increases. I think it was the small 8 getting dropped because the 6 is going to have the same power soon enough. If I can remember where I was reading about is I will post the link.

I'd be rather surprised if the Silverado didn't get at least some DI smallblocks right off the bat. I realize the Corvette is the showcase car but the trucks are the volume sellers.

I'll be the first to admit that there are some things the F-Series does better than the Silverado. And by that I mean "donate it's back axle to the company's sporty car."
