Scion's FR-S launch in May has forced Subaru dealers to trim, slightly, prices of their almost identical BRZ sports coupe that went on sale in April.

Even though there's now competition, Subie sellers are getting an average transaction price of $29,085 for BRZ, vs. Scion stores' average $25,653 for FR-S, according to data provided to Drive On by TrueCar.com, which has access to transaction information. TrueCar.com says there was a $400 incentive on BRZ in June, none on the FR-S.

I knew this was going to happen. Subaru is screwing themselves over big time by this joint venture with Toyota.

Akio looked at Subaru and said "Ya got a real purty mouth..."

I hear the BRZ's horn sounds like Ned Beatty squealing.

Subaru really should have made the BRZ a HiPo car and let Toyota have their "Delicate balance".

Teaming with Toyota is a dangerous game, period. Ask GM, who deliberately suffered from it for years.

Right because GM was not at fault the least bit.

Regarding the article, that's quite a steep discrepancy in avg. transaction price between the two. My personal preference is the BRZ for the extra features and the Subaru nameplate. However most people buying these cars don't seem to care for leather seats, navigation, etc.
Went to a Toyota/Scion dealer 2 weeks ago and they said every FR-S that arrives is sold immediately. They won't have one in stock for another 5 weeks. Going on a bit of a tangent here, but when I went to see the Prius C they said it will be months until they have any in stock. Every Prius C they get was already sold before it arrived at the dealership. clap Toyota.
