Toyota Camry claims the top spot for the fourth consecutive year in Cars.com American-Made Index
Toyota
Photo credit: Toyota July 3, 2012 By: CF staff The Toyota Camry mid-size sedan, America’s best-selling car for 10 years running and 14 of the past 15 years, claimed the top spot for the fourth consecutive year in the annual Cars.com American-Made Index. The Cars.com American-Made Index is an annual ranking of vehicles deemed most American based on domestic parts content, final assembly point of vehicles and American sales volume. Camry is assembled at Toyota Motor Manufacturing, Kentucky (TMMK) in Georgetown, Ky., and at the SIA (Subaru of Indiana Automotive) plant in Lafayette, Indiana. Additionally, Toyota placed more models in the Cars.com American-Made Index Top 10 than any other nameplate. The Sienna ranked fourth to lead all minivans and the Tundra full-size pickup ranked seventh. The Sienna is assembled at Toyota Motor Manufacturing, Indiana in Princeton and the Tundra is built at Toyota Motor Manufacturing, Texas (TMMTX) in San Antonio. Reviews |

ya gotta be impressed, that they can continue that kind of leadership in the face of incredible competition, even through all the negativism.
But that's where I draw the line. The car is mediocre in far too many ways to impress further. ======= Call it the Lincoln Apology Momentum and Employee Appreciation Sale Spectacular. Or, just....ummmm.....LAMEASS |

It is totally meaningless if the parts are designed and engineered in japan from tooling also designed and engineered in japan. That's the real value added economic benefit of manufacturing.
the camary is not manufactured in the US with US parts, it's assembled here. There is huge difference economically. Why don't you knock it off with them negative waves? Why don't you dig how beautiful it is out here? Why don't you say something righteous and hopeful for a change? |

Two other quick comments.
1. this index is also based on sales which means because toyota dumps the camry in rental fleets it's an upward bias 2. toyota and Ford have about the same market share and yet Ford employs twice as many people in the US. So which company has more positive impact on the US economy? FORD! Why don't you knock it off with them negative waves? Why don't you dig how beautiful it is out here? Why don't you say something righteous and hopeful for a change? |

Statistics lie? You're kidding!? This seemingly "American benefit" isn't the best measure of American benefit? I'm shocked.

This is also bullshit, because the 2011 Dodge Avenger is not only built here in America, but it had the highest American parts content of any other car for 2011 at 83% American. Oddly enough, the 2011 Chrysler 200 had 81%.
http://www.allpar.com/news/index.php/201...erican-car but since they are factoring in American sales, that skews the numbers quite a bit in the Camrys favor ![]() NOT THE GOAL BUT THE GAME, NOT THE VICTORY BUT THE ACTION, IN THE DEED THE GLORY

And yet none of this changes a thing. The Toyota fans will love their Toyota's. Ford fan's will love thier Ford's. GM fan's will love their GM's. Chrysler fan's will love their Chrysler's. Simple isn't it?
