CF racing team would be awesome laugh

Rev, you've autocrossed before right? Try a rallycross sometime. You can do it with just about any car too. I'm not up to date on your RX-8 but there's tons of RWD rallycrossers. Last one I went to had 2 Mustangs, a Merkur, a 944, an RX-7, a newer Charger, old Lancer, and a lot more. Most weren't even heavily modified. Get a crappy set of old snow tires and come to the Dirt Side beer

rofl I don't know if I could do that to my RX-8. I need to find something thats more suitable for off road. How technical are the courses?

RE: Update on Doug's Dodges
the RX'd be fine...sort of haha. minor modifications like mud flaps go a long way for keeping the car from getting destroyed. plenty of people run totally stock cars. as for the courses they're usually set up in fields or fairgrounds. they give you a 10 foot or so running start and run through a series of slaloms and chicanes with an occasional hairpin or quick section. no crazy jumps or anything (at least here), just ruts that develop after a long run and they end up changing the course a bit anyway.

RE: Update on Doug's Dodges
How much suspension travel? The RX-8 doesn't have much suspension travel, especially my RX-8. I was thinking something with more travel like an older WRX or 2.5RS Subie or something older in the similar class. I was even looking at a Neon for a while believe it or not! I'd love to actually see a course to see how they run. It sounds like its just like autocross but on a larger field. What is the highest gear you go to? I never get out of second in auto cross.

all those cars would be great choices, and honestly a 1st gen Neon with the right driver will beat any WRX on a rallycross course. a modified one set the fastest time of the day our last time out. believe it or not the Modified FWD class is generally the quickest and most competitive one. and yeah it is very similar to autocross. i ran the whole last event in 2nd except for starts. i had a bit of a learning curve trying to keep the turbo spinning laugh

as for suspension travel, roughly half of competitors run stock suspensions on all types of cars, but the more the better i guess

Interesting, do they have point to point? I love that kind. I love road racing so I can actually get it into higher gear and utilize more of my car's potential.

RE: Update on Doug's Dodges
This weekend I competed in the Detroit SCCA Crystal Speedway Rallycross. Finished 4th in my class behind 3 excellent drivers (one was my dad) and 10th out of the 43 total cars in my second competitive event ever.

rockon Doug, you are awesome. I can't tell you how many rally videos I've seen since I last posted in this thread. I was looking up Sebastian Loeb a lot. I can't wait to watch the roof footage. BTW, what cameras do you use?
