Went for the first blast with the top down at lunch today. It's HOT up here right now, into the 90's again today, but boy it's fun. Wind noise is fine even at 70 - 75 MPH, and we got rubber in second gear no problem.

Just so you guys don't have any misconceptions about the weather in Canada, the outside thermometer is currently reading 35 C (around 96F).

Oh yeah, and this afternoon while we were cruising with the top down, a guy in a BMW 6 series convertible rolls up looks over and says, word for word 'they did a great job on that car, it's beautiful'.

Ford, mission accomplished.:yeeees:

You have not lived unless you've driven a convertible at night. Especially this one.

First, when you unlock the doors, you get a Mustang projected onto the pavement on the driver and passenger side. I've got to find someone to take a picture of that.

Second, the interior lighting on this car is amazing. The nav switches to 'negative' to make it easier to read. Street lights do this amazing reflective swirl in the bezels of the guages. Ripping through the gears as the sound bounces all around is music to your ears. My god... what a BLAST!:OHYEAH!:

Have you customized the interior lighting yet? With the premium package, you can customize the gauges. Change the colors of the dials and the rings around them, along with the lighting in the sill plates and the cupholders. It really is the coolest thing, especially at night.

Haven't tinkered with that yet, but at the moment, it's a pale green, which really takes me back to what cars were like when I was a kid. I love it. This car has all the 'surprise and delight' tricks that are needed in this segment.:yeeees:

Here it is road trip night, and it looks like thunderstorms until at least midnight.

Oh well, I'm going anyway. It's a good way to test for leaks I guess, of which there are none so far after I got caught in a heavy downpour on the way home from work.

One suggestion for this car: I hadn't fastened one of the latches properly last night, and didn't notice until I heard a bit of wind noise on the highway. Easily fixed at the next off ramp, but they might want to include some sort of electronic sensor to say, politely, 'you didn't close it properly, you twit'.

Pulled into the gas station after tonight's run (mileage on this tank of mostly city and a fair bit of spirited driving was 11.2 l/100 km or around 20 - 21 MPG) and what pulls up next to me but a 1968 California Special. Looked like this:



He liked the new one - checked it out a bit but things were getting busy so off we went.

Still raining out there dangit! Oh well, tomorrow is another day...:yeeees:

For sure! It's been a good week for seeing some great rides out there. On Sunday, I was talking with a guy (at the gas station, again, go figure) who had a brand new all black Challenger SRT 392. Best part about it, he was a former Honda/Acura guy, and now owns two Mopars. The D3 are back, big time.:yeeees:

Thought this would be a good dramatic picture, so I took it before I went out last night:



The storms that came through Southern Ontario yesterday took the temperature from 35 C (around 96 F) to 21 C (around 70F) in a matter of minutes. It was a wild night!
