Big Grin Project LS-S10: Thinking about a mini-spool. Good idea?
Was searching on craigslist for 5.3's the other day and came across one that caught my eye. Well,I bookmarked the page an kept searching. Well, that one turned out to be the best deal by far. I couldn't believe the price,so I sent the guy a text asking about it. Nothing is wrong with it,he just bought for the heads, but lost interest in swapping them onto his 6.0
The price? $200 for block, internals, and heads. No intake or accessories. Said he wouldn't take less then $100 for it. Seems cheap to me,but as long as the block and heads are good,I don't care. Because I'll be replacing the internals anyway.
So sometime tomorrow,me and my dad are going to go pick it up. :2thumbsup:
I'll post pictures tomorrow, but I wanted to share the good news beerlaugh

Good stuff. From what I hear the LS is outrageously strong and you'd have to do absolutely crazy things to it to actually break it. I'll be looking forward to seeing your progress!

Yea I think we had this all backwards.... He should have been called Nectarine since they have a smooth skin. It is often referred to as a "shaved peach", "fuzzy-less peach" or "shaven peach" due to its lack of fuzz or short hairs.

Now that Peaches is the becoming of a man and developing peach fuzz... He is now officially 'Peaches' beer

I think we gave that to him the name Peaches a while ago because he was still developing. I think your explanation had something to do with it a while back so thats why his name is Peaches. Next up was Mittens because we just liked it.

RE: Project LS-S10: Step 1 complete
Went and picked up the engine today around lunch.
Talked to the guy a little bit who was very knowledgeable. Knew his shit.
Went expecting to pay $200 for it. He only asked for $100. Paid him $140. Only downside is that it is an iron block. But I would have been stupid to pass this deal up.
Sounds cheap yes,but he received the engine at no cost to him. He just wanted the heads to put on his LQ4 6.0 in his rock crawler.
I've checked up,down, and all around the block for cracks. Not a single one.
Also, here is how small of a world we live in. He actually used to work with my dads coworkers son at Doug Herbert racing in Gastonia,NC. Crazy coincidence.
Anyway,here are some pictures beer
