DIY ATS-V?
![]() ![]() [Now before I begin writing, I just wanna note that I am expecting the usual suspects to not read a thing I write and then attempt to bash me cause they're assuming its gonna be an inane idea that's poorly put together and just retarded as hell. Well all I can say is get with the times people, and read what I write before ya attempt to bash me, because I won't bother responding to your comments if your gonna make stupid statements or try to bash/flame me without reading. Anyway, moving on] Cadillac's been on the roll lately, the CTS-V has been killin' nazi's like the inglorious basterds and the new ATS is aimed to knock the 3 series off the throne and the eventual ATS-V will most likely annihilate the competition. But what if your impatient or just wanna try something different, and want to make your own ATS-V, could it be done? Now this is where I go from pitching an idea to trying to see if it's actually doable, so bear with me. Before you start, I'm in no way shape or form suggesting that my idea's gonna go mainstream and everyone and there kid brothers or friends are going to do it, but I'm sure that this is gonna be done by some people out there, just because they can do it. So let me go over some thoughts I had and see where this goes: *First of all, considering that rumors are saying that the ATS-V would be a twin turbo V6, the engine I considered is the 3.6l. Now I know that it's basically the same engine that the Camaro V6 has, so you know there's an aftermarket out there with parts available, Like Turbos(2nd link), Superchargers, and whatnot. So unless cadillac did anything to prevent the engine being tuned or they have slightly different designs or whatever, I don't see a problem with that. (Correct me if I'm wrong here) *Now here's where I don't know if it's entirely possible or whatever, but could it be possible to swap the automatic for a manual, considering that the other than the engines, it's the same car, so while there would be work to do, it could be done, and if so, could you take the manual from a donor camaro(/ss), ats 2.0t or cts(/-v). [Note: I expect people to read that and flip out at me or start bashing, do note that I'm only asking and this isn't like the previous threads I made]. Could of put this in the note, but I'm not suggesting you drop a manual into an AWD model, I'm pretty sure someone out there would make his own Manual AWD -V if they Tranny swap option was realistic, but I digress, this is about the RWD model. If it isn't possible, no big deal, just beef up the auto or have your own AWD V, either way this would be a win/win. *Now besides the performance parts, would there be an aftermarket for suspension parts to handle whatever power this car could would be making after you built it up, or would it have to be custom made at that point? Now I'm not going to lie, I'm not to familiar with the GM 3.6l V6, but I do know from what I see online and in magazines that the V6 does have potential (Like this article that I read tonight while I was working, Sites like 5th Gen Camaro, ect), so I know that there's potential here. Now again, before some of you accuse me of being an internet tuner, say I'm being stupid or ignorant, not getting the whole picture, ect; Notice that I didn't mention once that your gonna be guaranteed to make XYZ-whp or ZYX-Tq by doing any of this, not suggesting what parts to get and I'm not "lol-ing" or doing smiley faces or being ignorant/arrogant about all this. I'm simply presenting an Idea I had and talked about with CTS-Vluver, and seeing what you guys think about it, all while trying to be as logical about it and presenting a case while also asking serious questions to see if it is possible. Anyway, just want to say thank you for taking the time to read this and reply, have a good night now Mike The Jeresy Devil

RE: DIY ATS-V?
Glad to see my threads being viewed now
I figure at most, if people DO decide to get a 3.6, would be slap a super (or turbo), beef uo the tranny if necessary, a few bolt ons, some suspension bits, rims/tires, maybe a v sticker, call it a day The Jeresy Devil

RE: DIY ATS-V?
ATS-V will get the new Gen V Small Block V8, NOT a TT-V6
You have too much time on your hands, and not enough common sense |

RE: DIY ATS-V?
No, lots of common sense
figures you guys wouldn't debate and that you (merc) would give a sly remark Even if the ats does with a LS7, how long before it comes out and why not take pride in making something out of what would be available immediately rather than wait for the v to come out Whats the supposed power figures on the ls7 powered v and whats it price, probably could make more while probably spending less and having something more powerful too if done right Figures the only responses are people who rathet shut me up and throw in a jab than discuss and debate, but this is carfanatics now -_-; The Jeresy Devil

RE: DIY ATS-V?
Since the 3.6 has its exhaust manifolds cast directly into the heads it makes it very easy to package and bolt turbos directly to the engine. Saving space and increasing performance.
“The build sheet is the wish list of any racer: lightweight high-revving dry-sump LS7 engine; carbon-ceramic brakes; integrated coolers; true aerodynamic downforce, and a significant reduction in curb weight. This car could only come from Chevrolet, and could only be called the Z/28.” |

RE: DIY ATS-V?
TTV6?
I am severely disappointed, Gen V Small Block would be SOOOOOOOOOOO much better. and the LS7, just so you know.. is a Gen IV Small Block, it is probably going bye-bye
