How can you go wrong with any Shelby vehicle? You can't.

Even the GLH Dodge cars from the 80's were cool as hell!

Here is my all time favorite Carroll Shelby vehicle. (I don't necessarily include the GT40 or Ford GT, as I really don't know how much involvement he had in those other than tangential).

The 1965 Cobra Daytona Coupe (which I love even more than the roadster):

RE: Carrol Shelby tribute - your favorite Shelby's
I have vivid memories of riding in an original GT500. This goes back to about 1983. A friend of mine was tuning his 440 six pack in a chally, and his neighbor came over who was original owner of a 500, one that we rarely got to see cuz it was always covered. He took it out that fine day, recognized me and Mark as true fans, and took us for a cruise on Telegraph with the gorgeous Ford.

I recall it had about 21K miles then.
It was quick, but.....it was NOT as fast as my friends chally....LOL.
In fact, I recall joking how we wished he would race us. We knew we would win.
But, the 500 wins in pretty much every other way. Interior was way nicer I recall. Drove great. Was much quieter (stock exhaust) vs a 440 with glass packs (popular back then).

frak, such memories.

Anyone else out there know about cruisin telegraph?

This is my favorite Shelby Mustang of all time...The 1968 GT500KR. My close friend Rick owned one identical to this beauty in the eighties and I have fond memories of the car. Rick owned the car for a couple of years and sold it. Sadly, Rick passed away almost one year ago. R.I.P. Rick.

This is my second favorite Shelby of all time...The 1987 Shelby Daytona. I bought one new in '87. It is identical to the one in the photo. Flash red, charcoal leather interior, 5 speed manual trans. I loved the hell out of that car. My older brother owns the car now and it is in his garage. One of these days I will get pics and post them.

Other favorites...Like Legnert, the Daytona coupe, '66 Hertz rent a Shelby was cool in so many ways, '69 GT500(another close friend owned one, and most of the Shelby Dodge's from the eighties. They were the best performance buys of the eighties.

R.I.P. Mr. Shelby, you will be missed!

Plymouth 'Cuda The quintessential musclecar.

Not really a favorite, but one of his more obscure builds:

I love all his classic Mustangs though.

Gotta be the Cobra, with the Daytona Coupe in a close second, if not a tie.

As far as modern creations, then without a doubt the 2012 GT350. It's got more of the Shelby vibe going on than the GT500, IMO. Plus 0-60 in 3.7, 12 flat at the 1/4 mile, and a 1.05 G corner make it soooooooooooooooo frakking awesome!!! The scream of a 535HP S/C Coyote just seals the deal.

While a bit off topic, is that why Ford bumped the GT500 up to 662hp, to give the GT350 its own territory and maybe serial production?

I don't know for sure, but I'm pretty positive that development for both of these cars started at roughly the same time. But with an existing engine, an existing supercharger, and a transmission that didn't need to be touched, the GT350 got to the assembly line faster. The 2013 GT500 was in development when there were only small rumors of the, at the time, Z28. I think something else at Ford possessed them to make this balls-to-the-wall 'Stang. Whether it was the GT350 or not, is a question left to be answered. Maybe Wings can chime on this.

Once you mentioned the GT350's horsepower, it made the hierarchy of the Mustang make sense, with the base, GT, Boss, GT350, and GT500.

I think Ford might have left the 500-600HP range open to the tuners. Thing about it, Saleen, Roush, Ford Racing, and Shelby all have their own cars or kits that can be had in that HP range. Hell, you even can get a V6 ProCharged with 475 HP, and with less weight it makes it a contender there too.

But then again it could just be coincidence. :tounge:
