Photo credit: Nissan April 27, 2012 By: CF staff ![]() The debut of Hyundai’s Sonata midsize sedan caused a brief halt to design work on Nissan’s fifth-generation Altima, a top executive at the Japanese auto maker reveals. “Clearly, we referenced the Sonata when we were going through the design process,” Andy Palmer, Nissan executive vice president-global planning, marketing and Infiniti Div., said during an interview. “We even delayed development by a short amount just to check that the (new Altima’s) proportions were right, the (package) was right (and that) the product overall was right.” ![]()

RE: Hyundai Sonata caused brief halt to design work on the new Altima
no thanks
“The build sheet is the wish list of any racer: lightweight high-revving dry-sump LS7 engine; carbon-ceramic brakes; integrated coolers; true aerodynamic downforce, and a significant reduction in curb weight. This car could only come from Chevrolet, and could only be called the Z/28.” |

Considering the new Altima looks like crap, I can definitely see the inspiration from the Sonata.

Yet another reason the Takeri should have been put into production yesterday. Against the current crop of Asian designs, it and the Optima look uniquely attractive while the others look either bland or outright ugly.

So let me get this right.. The japanese designers suck so much ass that they are stealing queues from the Koreans?
The guys who steal EVERY DESIGN? So theyre stealing from the theifs and managed to make something UGLIER? “The build sheet is the wish list of any racer: lightweight high-revving dry-sump LS7 engine; carbon-ceramic brakes; integrated coolers; true aerodynamic downforce, and a significant reduction in curb weight.
