I've ridden in my friend's F-150 with the 4.6. She has a cat-back and some headers and the sound that it puts out is nothing short of addicting.

Probably does not have headers, just cat back. Otherwise, why bother with catback, as most would run new exhaust at that point, and in total costing a lot of money.

Probably sounds good, but still not as good as stock Shelby.
But Shelby with headers would be much louder yet.

Headers don't necessarily make it annoying. A lot of times headers don't make it a whole lot louder. Just depends on the muffler you use with it.

In a perf engine soooo capable like this, my assumption going in was that if you remove a well engineered cast manifold, that runs back to mandrel bent exhaust and modest flow mufflers and cat, that is all carefully optimized for a balance of comfort, performance and emissions......and then go big tube headers......you would OBVIOUSLY match the system accordingly and bias for only one thing. Flow. And of course, noise.

I will say for a MASS-PRODUCTION car the 5.8L S/C is the most powerful.. but I have to also add that at 5.8L, considering it's actual size.. it damn sure should be. This engine is fuckin HUGE compared to the LS9 which makes 638 hp and 604 lb-ft.. and.. I have to remind U was doing so back in 2008 when it was certified. To Wing's comment that no one will catch the 662HP number.. I say.. Seriously yo??? Get real. The Gen V GM V8 will debut in one year.. and quite frankly I wouldn't be surprised if GM didn't let Ford bask in the sunlight without changing the rating for that time.. as a courtesy. But in reality U still have to take into account that GM has had the LS9 for damn near 5 years.. and getting an additional 24HP out of it is about as easy as pie. They really could just up the boost... which is currently only kicking 10.5 psi.
