I think having such outstanding products isnt a bad thing at all

“The build sheet is the wish list of any racer: lightweight high-revving dry-sump LS7 engine; carbon-ceramic brakes; integrated coolers; true aerodynamic downforce, and a significant reduction in curb weight. This car could only come from Chevrolet, and could only be called the Z/28.”

Buick was first to market with good product.

Soon caddy and chevy will bring their A game.

casa, do you really think buick will not see volumes drop like a rock?

No I don't. In fact.. I do not understand why so many people... "Enthusiast" included always lump GM, Ford, or Chrysler divisions in one big bag. Seriously.. I kno Lincoln owners that NEVER. NEVER.. considered a Ford. I kno Buick Buyers that NEVER thought of getting a Chevy.. GMC owners that never considered a Chevy...

Once U get to a certain plateau.. the chances of U going back is often a very hard turn to make. I, for instance, could NEVER consider my Camaro as my "go to" sports car. Even when I'm driving my Camaro and some one says "nice car".. I always fit in there... I always point out that it is my DD.. and that my play car.. my prized possessions are my V and Vette. As much as I love the Lacrosse.. I could have never bought one after having an STS... unless it was my DD. I couldn't replace my Cadillac with a Buick.. No different than if I had a Buick Regal.. I couldn't, and wouldn't consider a Malibu. Perhaps its ego.. or maybe knowledge of product.

Also.. U say that Chevy and Caddy are bringing new product soon. But U forget that Post-BK.. GM has been doing a wonderful job of refreshing all of their divisions. The Buick Lacrosse, for instance, will be refreshed by the time the Impala launches... if not exact.. within a few months.

Good product sells. I guarantee you as long as GM keeps up these stellar product launches and advertising they wont have shit to worry about.

All of that means NOTHING, if lease deals are all priced within $50 of each other (cap reduction ignored of course).
I see Buick advertising all the time for well under $300, and I bet caddy as well. Leasing is big again at GM, and that is where the volumes are.
Thus, most won't give two shits which badge is on it.

Who cares as long as they buy? rofl

If anything, everyone else should be worried not GM.

Why go shopping around if GM has everything you want in their portfolio?

I am not picking on choice.
Choice for the consumer is a good thing.

What is less of a good thing for a corporation, from a profit standpoint, is too much overlap and complexity.

VW is huge and profitable, and near zero overlap.
Similar can be said about most of the top profit brands.

Heck, even Ford with 2 brands is far more profitable….doh.

hehehrofl

Accounting cheats aside, we both kno that your last statement isn't true.. actually.. and sadly.. U just might NOT KNO.

Also.. Are U even serious about VW not having overlap. Quiet as its kept.. not only does Audi overlap a great deal wil many of VWs offering here.. but abroad.. where VW sells 90% of its offerings.. VW overlaps with not only Audi.. but Seat, Skoda.....

U said NEAR Zero... when in reality 80% of VWs vehicles overlap like a muthafucka. Even here.. VW and Audi overlap in every area except the R8, A7, and A8. Bring Porsche into that equation and a possible revival of the Phaeton.. and voila... :ifyousayso:

As for the numbers in profit.. Ford's 2011 full year pre-tax operating profit was $8.8 billion, GM's pre-tax profit North America totaled $7.2 billion. International Operations, which includes Asia, made $1.9 billion. I count that as $9.1 billion. That's with Opel losing $700 million and a redesign 60% of their line-up, not to mention several new drivetrains and plants being built.
