RE: Acura announces $25,900 starting price for 2013 ILX
The Verano will be getting the new 2.5L which will be in the 190HP range later this year, it also should achieve better FE than the outgoing 2.4L thats currently used in the Verano. Also the Veranos getting the 2.0L Turbo.
Do you think most buying a Buick really cares about a manual? What about Acura? Yes the Verano is a little hefty but this has a lot to do with the sound deadening thats used in the car which I will say... its very quiet inside. The biggest majority of Honda's - not so much but we'll see how well this one holds up once it hits the road. With this - even when GM cars tend to weight more they still have no issues surpassing most competition. Want an example: The Cruze which is the heaviest in the group has no issue trumping a Corolla, Sentra, Civic and Elantra at the stoplights. Yes Buick of yesterday was the Grandma's choice of car but the sad part is - this is where Honda and Toyota are at today, its as if the roles have reversed. And if you think Buick today drives like the Buick 5 years ago, 10 years ago etc then you've had '0' seat time behind the wheel. |

Well in that MT comaprison, althought the Cruze was the heaviest with similiar horsepower was still quicker to 60 than the Civic, Elantra, Mazda3 Touring and Good GOD that freaking Corolla is as slow as a damn Prius! Check out those lateral Acceleration and Figure 8 times for that Cruze... very good... very good indeed! How about this one http://media.caranddriver.com/files/11-c...-sedan.pdf Have you ever seen a Civic (non Si) Auto, Elantra, Corolla do 8.0 seconds to 60 mph? I think

I'd save 7k and get a Civic Si instead. Better yet, I could get a decent Accord Coupe for less as well as a V6 Coupe for a little bit more.

redsky;198608 Wrote:Nope, facepalm to those who made up their mind using only 2d pics to feel the quality. Seems like u also belong in that nut group. Well redsky, you know there is an App now for iPhones, Androids, Blackberry and Windows based phones that allows 2D pictures to be felt from the phone. So you can feel the interior of a car by just touching the touch screen of the phone. It becomes 3D like and you can feel all around the interior. :yeeees::WINK: Interior comments: MT: "The interior, too, is pure Acura, from the waterfall-design, button-laden center stack to the red start button to the right of the steering wheel. Build quality appeared solid on the test units we drove and the optional leather interiors were also of good quality." Insideline: Inside, the Civic's controversial, digital-over-analog gauge pack has been banished in favor of more traditional instrumentation. We immediately notice the upgraded materials, all of which look and feel good, including the metallic trim. Quality isn't quite at TSX levels, but it's easily on par with the Honda Accord. Of course, the ILX comes with more amenities than the Civic, like standard dual-zone climate control, Bluetooth connectivity, a rearview camera and a leather-wrapped steering wheel, all of which push the curb weight up to 2,900 pounds on the lightest version. That's about 100 pounds more than a 2012 Civic EX-L Navi, or if you're curious, an automatic-equipped 2000 Integra GS sedan. Automobile Mag: Acura was wise to share few -- if any -- interior parts with the Civic. The ILX's cabin is all-new from head to toe, starting at the dashboard: the Civic's two-tier instrument panel is replaced with a rounded, twin-cowl dashboard that both waterfalls into the center stack and curves into the front door panels. Regardless of the model chosen, all three versions include a fair amount of standard content, including keyless entry, push-button ignition, a power moonroof, USB audio input, 16-inch aluminum wheels, a USB audio input, and a touchscreen audio system that -- when paired with a smartphone over Bluetooth -- offers SMS text message and Pandora Web radio functions. Overall Opinions: Road And Track: All in all, though, the ILX is a vehicle that ultimately makes sense as it expands the Acura brand to new buyers that want to graduate to a premium car without breaking the bank. We see it as a step toward reviving the Acuras we so fondly remember driving. And while we’re reminiscing, wouldn’t it be a great time to revive the Type-S models? If reviews are saying anything, this is no Acura CSX or Acura EL like those in the past. It's also not an Integra (which it never intended to be). Doesn't sound like the interior is "basic" or whatever. Seems like it's good. *sips tea* |

Should've kept it at just saying the Cruze is faster than the Civic and Elantra, actually competitive cars. Saying the Cruze is better than the Corolla, a car that's been the same since when there was no Cruze, but in fact a Cavalier, isn't the best comparo. 2. The average age of a Buick buyer is 59 from 2011 results. It has dropped from 62 in 2007. Toyota and Honda have both increased to 51 in the same time frame from 2007, up from 48 and 47. Acura's increased from 47 to 50 and Lexus went from 51 to 55. Older people typically have more money and they're the ones buying the cars. How, though, are Honda and Toyota the "old people" car brands and Buick is "younger", when they're the second oldest after Lincoln?? From a March 28th, 2012 article: ![]() ![]() Even Mazda and Mitsubishi, long seen of as "young and sporty" have gone up. And what about Hyundai and Kia, people swear they're young too. Maybe a further breakdown would be good. http://blog.polk.com/blog/blog-posts-by-...ger-buyers *sips tea* |

RE: Acura announces $25,900 starting price for 2013 ILX
Quote:I missed this post somehow. Anyways:1. The Corolla and Sentra is a compact car, the Corolla (and Sentra) although ancient sells very well so yes both these cars should be compared since at this time they're the best that the manufacturer has to offer. If they're a pathetic comparison - blame it on Nissan and Toyota. The Cavalier stopped production in 2004, this is 2012 so fail to see your point. I was comparing a new model to a new model. Anyways the reason for my response to redsky was due to his comment Quote:I expected Cruze to be much better with new technology, but unfortunately its still inferiorWhat new technology does the Cruze have? A turbocharger? Geez - how long have these little things been around? Does it have DI? Nope. So lets do compare it to the Elantra: The Cruze has a tiny 1.4L with a turbo producing 138 hp which is placed in a 3,200 lbs Cruze with a 6-speed auto. The Elantra has a 1.8L producing 148hp which weights less than 2,800 lbs with a 6-speed auto.... so how in the world is the Cruze inferior? If you ask me... the damn car holds its own very well, because in reality the Elantra should blow it away since it has more hp and considerbly less weight but... not the case. What about handling? Yea the Cruze once again is the better car here, same could be said for so many other compacts - the Focus is the performance king due to it's horsepower advantage, they're is no denying that. 2. I could care less what the average age of Buick and Acura, this just supports what I stated above - that very few will buy a manual Acura. How many TSX and TL manuals sell a year? Get back to me in a years time to let me know how well this car will sale with a manual, if anything Honda failed by not offering an auto with the 2.4L. My comment about Buick of today compared to yesterday had nothing to do with age... just saying the cars are as different as night and day. They're not just the big float boat highway cruisers they were 10 years ago. They actually have good driving feel, competitive handling, braking etc. |
