The new model will be based on the MP4-12C and will be similar in concept to the Ferrari FF – although it won’t have the Ferrari’s £230,000 price tag. Instead, McLaren will position the car as a more practical alternative to range-topping Porsche 911s, with a price of around £150,000.

RE: McLaren working on shooting brake estate
A shooting brake is any object massive enough to be used as a bracing perch to maintain a steady aim when firing a weapon. It dates back to before cars were around when guns were large and heavy.
If you were hunting in the woods and saw an animal you wanted to take down, you could brace against a large rock or a fallen tree and they would be shooting brakes.
As it applies here, a shooting brake is usually a station wagon with a roofline just below shoulder height so a shooter can brace his elbow or forearm on the roof to steady the gun without being in an awkward position.

Let's see... they want to base a shooting brake on a mid-engined sports car - and then use the words "more practical" to describe it?

wtf

I'm not feeling this.

Lol

“The build sheet is the wish list of any racer: lightweight high-revving dry-sump LS7 engine; carbon-ceramic brakes; integrated coolers; true aerodynamic downforce, and a significant reduction in curb weight. This car could only come from Chevrolet, and could only be called the Z/28.”
