/thread.

Nope. A while back Ford released gearing specs on the GT500, and I came up with this. I want to see the production ZL1 do it's thing against the production GT500. The Shelby will take top speed, but at what cost?

LOL....a race at 4,000 feet where the BOSS was affected more because of the altitude.

A race where they smooth out MOST of the curves to get longer straight aways.

Don't forget the extra 136 HP and 176 extra foot pounds of torque.

Don't tell me a company as large as GM could not have found a track closer to sea level.

All the hype is falling on it's face right now.

If I were to accept your reasoning then the first thing I'd have to do is find the Ford marketing genius who decided that naming Ford's track ringer the "Boss 302 LAGUNA SECA" (and deciding said track was an appropriate venue to prove it's skills) was a good idea, and shoot him in the face with a bazooka.

Your argument completely and utterly sucks.
rofl nooo not logic!

Kool-Aid: Oh, I'd say that thread did alright-you never did prove me wrong.

In your OWN thread right here you try to suck and blow at the same time-when the Camaro runs around VIR and the Ring the heat soak from the supercharger is supposed to eventually do it in. When it kills the Laguna Seca Boss at LAGUNA SECA, it's supercharger is the decisive factor!

Sure wish we had a smiley for "chasing your tail" rofl

If AON is so worried about heat soak maybe he should call wings and tell him to make the transmission coolers and diff coolers standard on the GT 500 rockon

I never thought I'd see the day where I'd see 4000lb and track car in the same sentence. Its still hard believing anything over 3500lbs can be taken to a track and beat on and still be alright on the comfortable drive home.

See that there is not funny. That there is just plain SAD. Ford wants to make a 200-mph car with fluid coolers as an option. That right there is proof that the beancounters have infested your company like an unsightly rash.

That is something I never understood. How do you make a high end performance car without an oil and tranny cooler? If the car is going to be beat on, which most high end performance cars are beat on (not necessarily the track but showing off on the street), its going to get over heated. Its bad enough that its forced induction so its going to run hotter to begin with.

Honestly Rev? I'm not trying to troll here, really I'm not. But it boils down to Ford being stupid. They wouldn't know how to build a decent performance car if it bit them on the ass.

My gripe isn't just with Ford. Its with many companies in general. I won't say the names because it will start a flame war, but not putting in limited slip differentials and using brakes instead to slow down the inner wheels, FWD biased AWD systems for track/performance cars, weight, etc. Its ridiculous.

Sure, Mr. Mod. Leave the flame wars and name-calling to the hockey highlights-addled Canadian beer

I look at Ford and I see a huge company that does small cars exceedingly well, mid-size cars quite well... and that's about it. This is confusing. Why can't the Mustang have IRS? Why did Ford contract out production of the mid-engine GT back in 2005? Why does a 90 year-old man have the company's permission to make a 200mph car and put his own name on it? Why doesn't the company that popularized the V8 back in 1932 put one in the Taurus SHO? So many questions... better to buy a Camaro rockon

It's an option because it's not needed if all you plan on doing is dragstrip racing, or riding around killing ZL1's.

Lame, sad, pathetic, cheap, nasty beancounting by a company that defines the phrase "penny wise, dollar foolish." If only Ford would get serious. The Mustang could be such a wonderful car

Your argument completely and utterly sucks.

The ZL1 was already heat soaked (McLips words) so if true how was the Boss affected more? Also in my experience with turbo cars (not sure about supercharged though) the higher the altitude the less boost they would pull so less boost = less power. I've had turbo cars run 2/10 slower at Bristol TN Dragstrip in comparison to ZMAX consistantly.

As it's been stated before - there are plenty of less hp cars that will turn some amazing times on a track... in this type racing HP isn't always the key. I'll say this again - Whats the difference between the Laguna Seca Boss vs GT500 (which has 106 hp and GOD knows how much torque advantage)? Thinking the Boss is quicker... true?

If MT did the comparo... what did GM have to do with this and where the cars were raced? Even if GM had done this... its not as if Ford wouldn't have pulled the same kind of crap to better put their car with the better advantage... true?

As for smoothing out those curves... well I guess that was a good thing for the Boss considering if you hit a curb it will send the car sideways. rofl
Quote:With the suspension so stiff, a decent amount of the motion is transferred into the body. "I could feel a long frequency vibration or shudder over the washboards in the front stretch. It was very noticeable, but doesn't shake it loose." Randy didn't feel the same way about curbs, however. "I hit one and stayed off them after. It popped the car loose and made it jump sideways."

As for the hype - its only falling to the idiotic morons like McLips and his Night in shining armor - RumpRoaster wings. I've only read pretty much positive reviews about the car... you know the ones thats actually tested it and not the ones that speculating.
