RE: First ZL1 1/4 Mile Numbers.......What a Shame
I bet in their haste to get the car to the track, they didn't run the dealer gas out of the tank. The dyno numbers tell the story. That ZL1 has the rabies. They say they topped it off with 93, but Camaros are notorious for pulling timing if even the smallest amount of lower octane gas.
“The build sheet is the wish list of any racer: lightweight high-revving dry-sump LS7 engine; carbon-ceramic brakes; integrated coolers; true aerodynamic downforce, and a significant reduction in curb weight. This car could only come from Chevrolet, and could only be called the Z/28.” |

RE: First ZL1 1/4 Mile Numbers.......What a Shame
Do yourselves a favour. Pick up your latest R & T (who generally seem to get the best times out of cars). In their road test summary, the 1/4 mile indicates a 'significant difference' is .5 of a second. In general, every car I've seen out at the track performs within that range. My own experience was exactly that with both the G8 and the GTP - Best for the G8 was 13.64 and worst was 14.1. Best for the GTP was 14.78 and worst was 15.3. What it comes down to are the road/track conditions and the skill of the driver at launching the car. The more powerful they are, the trickier they are to launch and variable their times will be.
The h/p race is also very much a moving target since cars today are performing at levels completely unheard of even 5 years ago, so whoever is 'on top' at the moment will only be there for a short period of time. Which, by the way, makes this the best time ever to be an enthusiast. ________________________________________ 2013 Chevrolet Volt 2009 Pontiac G8 GT |

The Automatic doesn't have launch control dumby.

Doubt it. I'm sure hennessey will come out with some magic "performance parts" that will "fix" these times.

All I was saying is that until I start seeing numbers from big magazines under proper testing conditions I'm not going to wet the bed (coughcoughindycarenginescough) I'll be the first to admit that there are some things the F-Series does better than the Silverado. And by that I mean "donate it's back axle to the company's sporty car." |

RE: First ZL1 1/4 Mile Numbers.......What a Shame
Didnt i say this was gonna happen?
Well its lingenfelter, but still.. 11.03 @ 130mph Lingenfelter "mod" zl1 with drag radials and skinny tires running 3 more pounds of boost over stock. Why the hell you would want this thing to be a drag strip queen is beyond me, this thing is meant to be driven! “The build sheet is the wish list of any racer: lightweight high-revving dry-sump LS7 engine; carbon-ceramic brakes; integrated coolers; true aerodynamic downforce, and a significant reduction in curb weight. How do we know its slower than the current GT500? I guess if you take the fastest times of the GT500 and compare them to the slowest times for the ZL1 then I'm sure this could be correct. True? So lets state a few facts here: MT got 12.35 @ 115 for the '11 GT500 C&D got 12.30 @ 119 for the ZL1, they got a 12.4 @ 117 for the '11 GT500 The video I provided earlier states the ZL1 run in the 11s when the launch control was disengaged Its also good to know that the ZL1 is now a POS since Mr. McLips said it was

jspookss;196756 Wrote:Didnt i say this was gonna happen? Sorry to tell you this but NO ONE serious about running around a road course is gonna use a 4100lb, supercharged car. This whole "road course" marketing by GM is so sad when you GMhumpers just fell right into it. Hell the car was already suffering from heatsoak on those 12 second runs down the strip. How do you think it was gonna do trying to run 50 laps with timing getting pulled till it's just a 300hp/4100lb car eating brakes and tires. This car is a fail around the track and a fail down the strip.
