Test n Tune usually all through the season. Pay your $20 and get in as many runs as you like. I pay more attention to quarter mile times and trap speeds than I do 0 - 60 anyway. As far as taking it on a road course, I'd love to do a day at Mosport, but we'll see.

Frost this morning as it dropped down to freezing. The HVAC and rear window defroster work extremely well - faster than any of our other cars.

A 1.4 is a bit rough when cold (what car isn't?) but I did notice a bit of 'surging' (think of it as straining at the leash) at the first stop light. It settled down very quickly and didn't do it again.

Really enjoying the XM satellite radio. I must perhaps reconsider my decision not to subscribe for my daily driver...

About 1 1/2 hours in heavy traffic today and still quite comfortable. Long term average remains at 7.9 liters/100. I am suitably impressed - traffic around here is bad - the worst commute in North America supposedly so I have to say the 1.4 is as frugal as advertised, especially when hauling around 3100+ lbs of car.

2 hr highway trip today to get a good measure of highway mileage. Over 120 miles it averaged 39 MPG (6.0 litres/100 km). Very comfortable, very quiet and has absolutely no trouble keeping up or passing when necessary at 'real' highway speeds (around 70 - 75 MPH). Checked out the ipod connection both with aux jack and USB connection - very, very cool.

I'm going to miss this car when I return it!

It goes back on Tuesday, after which point I will write up my full review in a separate thread. Got loads more pictures too...:yeeees:

39 MPG is pretty impressive!

A good friend of mine bought a LTZ/RS about 2 months ago, he had an older (thinking '01 Lexus ES300) which had around 180,000 miles and he started having a lot of issues. The last straw was the transmission started slipping so he traded it for the Cruze, the car has every available option including the Nav (which is hard to find), roof, leather etc. His car was sitting in the driveway last week towards the back so instead of moving cars around to get mine out I drove it to the store, it had 1,400 miles and his overall average MPG was 32.3 which I found quite impressive considering this was a mixture of city and highway. I'll take some pics at some point and post...

With this - I think I need to get in on this testing cars... there are quite a few of us NC folks here ya know beer

I think you guys need a texas tester :2thumbsup:

“The build sheet is the wish list of any racer: lightweight high-revving dry-sump LS7 engine; carbon-ceramic brakes; integrated coolers; true aerodynamic downforce, and a significant reduction in curb weight. This car could only come from Chevrolet, and could only be called the Z/28.”

It's a pretty simple formula really - only 1.4 litres of displacement in use, and it only takes something like 30hp to keep a car at highway speed. Throw the 6 speed in the mix with a nice low overdrive gear and there you have it.

Two things that popped into my head today (it's a busy place up there):

1. Would this car sell in greater numbers if they also had a hatchback, a la, Focus? Or would hatch sales cannibalize sedan sales????

2. Based on the way this car drives, the Verano 2.0T is going to be an absolute KILLER.:yeeees:

Yup, no 'hypermiling' either. I drove like I always do, with a somewhat heavy, but careful foot!

Here in NC - I would bet 70% of the Focus I see are the hatchback... people here love these type cars!

I see probably a 50/50 mix of Focus hatch vs sedan and the Focus hatch looks way better in my opinion. I think GM should just go ahead and do it for the 2013 model year. This car is selling well enough to justify the cost IMO.

Im not a fan of the cruze wagon, but the cruze hatch looks good.

For me - I like the rear of the pic I posted above over this... not a fan of these taillights.
