RE: More appropriate, all new Fusion vs Malibu
Honda hasn't built a proper Honda since the Fit/Accord. When an automaker stops making cars that conform to it's rep they will inevitably lose their way. It happened with Benz, it happened with Toyota, it's happening with Honda. I don't know why they've become so conservative as of late, but if they keep it up with the next Accord they're screwed in comparos against the Malibu. GM will be fine in this segment with this car. The Koreans will poach the import buyers, Ford will field another strong affort with the Fusion, and VW will have it's work cut out for it in translating comparo wins into sales.

For me, I do like the Fusion styling and it is only my personal taste. It looks more agressive than the Malibu, not dissing the Malibu. The Malibu interior is damn nice to say the least. I like it. Yes, I know the pictures were not equal and sorry that I don't have a photographic memory and could not remember every detail of the cars. My hats off to CTSLuvR for the photos and the great interior shots. That is what I meant about 'mucking it up' by giving me another view of the cars, and more to think about. Both cars are very nice and I like both. I don't know which one is better. I am sure both will make their owner's very happy. Plymouth 'Cuda The quintessential musclecar. |

Honda will be fine in the segment also. Of the new mid sized offerings, IMHO, the Malibu isn't really the one to look out for. Again, that's Fusion territory. I really hope a different engine makes the car better because GM really did themselves a disservice by putting the Eco one out first and no review of it has been very overwhelming with praise. The new CRV is a proper Honda, same with the Odyssey. The Civic is a mess, granted, but its sales are up and an updated model is around the corner. It's the top selling compact car in this years sales so far, besting Focus by 11k, Cruze by 20k and Elantra by 33k units. Even got the Corolla beat. Honda will be alright.....2012 is going to be a big year for them. Very big. We'll just have to wait and see. Top 30 Best Selling Vehicles USA March 2012 *sips tea* |

I chose the photos from Net Car Show, the only difference for the Taurus would have been the wheels and I posted a 2013 photo, not the current one. ![]() |

RE: More appropriate, all new Fusion vs Malibu
I would like to note, that the Fusion has dominated on here. But I have a feeling the Malibu will win in real life sales because what we enthusiasts like doesn't sell well with everyone else. Most people want boring, bland and ugly.

RE: More appropriate, all new Fusion vs Malibu
I saw my first new Malibu this weekend. Not boring, not bland and definitely not ugly. Didn't know what I'd think of the tail lights but in person they work. It passed me on the road and I noticed the grill approaching in the side mirror so was watching. Not the same as an up close examination, but very attractive car in person.

RE: More appropriate, all new Fusion vs Malibu
Very true Basilisk, I didn't mean to hint that I thought the Malibu specifically was either of those. I like the Malibu and will be in consideration for my next car. But I just mean usually what we enthusiasts like more typically is the less popular car choice among the masses. If that wasn't true, then the Camry, Accord, Corolla, etc. would not sell.
