The All-New Ford Explorer 3.5L V6 AWD Limited was named Best Luxury SUV in the 2011-2012 Car of the Year awards ceremony held on March 29.

“It’s a proud moment for Ford, our employees and our customers to have Explorer named Best Luxury SUV,” said Vinay Piparsania, vice president for Marketing and Sales, Ford Group Philippines. “Winning this honor confirms our One Ford plan is working to deliver vehicles people truly want and value, with industry-leading quality, fuel efficiency, safety and smart technology.”

The All-New Explorer 3.5L V6 AWD Limited was also awarded the Bosch Technical Innovation Award for its industry-exclusive MyFord Touch with SYNC. This driver connect technology adds convenience while helping keep drivers engaged and focused on the road.

Ford Explorer fully reinvented

Ford revealed the All-New Explorer in October, showcasing the SUV’s combination of improved driving dynamics and available Intelligent 4WD with the Terrain Management System.

For SUV buyers putting top priority on fuel economy, Ford revealed the All-New Explorer 2.0L GTDi XLT at the 8th Manila International Auto Show, which will offer a 2.0-liter EcoBoost™ I-4 engine that is anticipated to deliver even greater fuel efficiency.

The All-New Explorer has been reinvented to reflect 21st century customer needs, while honoring the fully capable heritage of previous Explorer models.

Yeah, the "luxury" part of the award surprised me too, but whatever. It's the most luxurious unibody SUV in their lineup, and you can equip one pretty nice.
