So all of that makes sense, but will running a higher octane fuel get me better mileage?

52Chevy, a friend of mine has had a couple Civics and always ran Premium. He got better fuel economy and a bit more power. I've also heard some people say it doesn't make a difference. There are huge debates of that on a ton of forums. Normally what I used to do in our old van was always use regular but once every 10 fill ups I'd put in mid grade and it ran a bit better but I was told not to run premium in it because the computer will read it as rich fuel and it could mess up a few things, but I never really got a solid answer.

Well damn...haha I know I ran mid grade once in the Cut, but got worse FE. I also did a lot more "city" driving on that tank so it wasn't a good comparison.

RE: GREAT video I found explaining compression, fuel octane, and more (fixed)
In my mom's GS, I normally use Premium but I put in midgrade once in a while depending on how expensive it is and how much gas I want to put in but I don't notice a difference in gas. I've seen 24.8mpgs maximum in that car on highway driving using Premium. I ran regular in my rotary when I bought it because Premium was ridiculously expensive and with paying my car payment, insurance and gas, I made the cut in fuel and had a clogged cat and low power and a host of other problems that ensued. But then again, rotaries should only run Premium or richer.

If your cars Ecuador can't adjust for premium, don't do it. You'll wind up with awesome carbon buildup in your exhaust and valves.
“The build sheet is the wish list of any racer: lightweight high-revving dry-sump LS7 engine; carbon-ceramic brakes; integrated coolers; true aerodynamic downforce, and a significant reduction in curb weight. This car could only come from Chevrolet, and could only be called the Z/28.” |

RE: GREAT video I found explaining compression, fuel octane, and more (fixed)
I was just looking up the 2.5L that is in my car, and for the specific application it is recommended that 91Octane is run. In the later models 87 was ok. So now it is my mission to figure out how much of a difference it makes to run 91 vs. 87.
