In recent weeks, GM has offered $1,000 in dealer cash on V-6 models to lift sales. It's not offering any dealer cash on the four-cylinder versions, according to AIS Rebates, an Ann Arbor, Mich., firm that provides incentive data to dealers.

Michael McGuire, principal at McGuire Chevrolet-Cadillac in Newton, N.J., says the four-cylinder Equinox has become a hot commodity for dealers swapping vehicles.

"I won't give up a four-cylinder unless I'm getting a four in return," he says.

Newton? Thats almost my backyard. Its so close that when the propane truck exploded there, I could hear it in the Meadows.

Having read the article, it sounds to me like they are running out of 2.4 ecotecs and arent building 2.5's fast enough to certify them for additional vehicle lines.

Lucy? Jou got some 'splainin to do!

Wow... TROLLS are back outta hibernation.:yeeees: Hey Salad Tosser...badass

. This isn't exactly a bad problem to have especially if U stopped producing the 2.4L because U have a better 2.5 coming this summer... and U need to get rid of 3.0L V6s U have laying around. GM is basically selling the V6 as a $500 Upgrade instead of the usual $1000..

Let's see, cash on the hood to still make the sale or let the customer walk to a different brand. Seems like a no brainer to me.

This is a testament to how good the Ecotec is now because GM stockpiled this engines late last year for the transition and has already blown through that stockpile.

They need to get the 2.5L out already, and I think they can jump ahead of everyone if they can get the 2.0T from the Malibu into the Equinox to replace the 3.0L.

I wonder if they risk over exposing that motor though if they were to put it in there as well though, doc. While it would be a pretty good fit, it would sort of remind me of GM a few years ago where you could get just about every car available with a Corvette engine in it.

U can't do a ONE MODEL YEAR instant launch of a brand new global engine with out it being tested in the real world (read: real idiot) situations. The 2.5L needs to gradually roll out, even if that means that the ATS and Malibu are the first to launch with it... sit back and wait a few months, then launch it in the Nox/Terrain, and Regal... etc. This engine is important... and GM should not blindly rush it out and have massive recalls to fix "one thing" they missed.
