idk who cares? Its still kicking the leafs ass.

“The build sheet is the wish list of any racer: lightweight high-revving dry-sump LS7 engine; carbon-ceramic brakes; integrated coolers; true aerodynamic downforce, and a significant reduction in curb weight. This car could only come from Chevrolet, and could only be called the Z/28.”

I don't think I need to link you the facts that show Leaf far outsells the volt.

Oh wait, only a month or two really matter to GM fans.

Hey wings, you think the Focus EV will outsell the Volt, even though both are the exact same price?

I seriously don't know and even more so, don't care who sells more.
What I do think however, is that once all Focus models, performance, PHEV, BEV, or just regular gas or GTDI, are humming along under one factory location that can quickly reprogram to bias output in any direction.....that TOTAL Focus sales, which is what really matters, will be impressive.

Have you watched the news lately. They can't stop replaying this stopped production volt news.

Damage is being done.
Shame.
But you will never read about the Focus plant closing.
That is forward thinking.

Volt is based on Delta II so it's not an orphan platform as far as I can see.

The old GM would have kept pumping them out and slashed the price and they're obviously not doing that. I'll give them credit for that.

My biggest criticism is that it's not been available in sufficient quantities in the right markets. Last I saw, Canadian sales were an unusually high percentage (20+% despite our market being 1/10th the size of the U.S. market), but as I've said, there's none around here. Not a single one at my local dealership.

Also, despite the rapidly rising gas prices (we're at the equivalent of $4.25/gallon for regular and the worst is yet to come), I don't see much promotion of it, and every last person I talk to about the car still doesn't understand how it works so there is still a lot of public education required and promotional opportunities being missed.

That being said, since this is a pretty flexible platform, they need to expand the offering and include a Caddy version pronto.

The question becomes, has irreparable damage been done to the Volt name.

The Volt is completely based off the Cruze. The only difference is the powertrain. The Cruze ECO uses a great deal of what is in the Volt in fact. Truth is... U really don't kno what the frak u're talking about and U need to shut the frak up.:ifyousayso:

FINALLY got some seat time in a Volt today... very impressive, the only drawback I could see is the +2 seating in the back. It's true about Canada though, there aren't any to be found anywhere I've been.

The Volt shares enough Cruze bits that it's somewhat shared tech, but with gas being as cheap as it is I can see where it's an uphill battle moving the things. Be that as it may, it's still FAR from a done deal that this thing's a failure. After all, the first-gen Prius was little more than a curiosity in NA when it arrived.

What is this 'cheap gas' of which you speak? We're pushing damn near $50 to fill up the Astra! (Hmm, there's a joke in there, somewhere)...

I filled up GP today and am getting close to the demoralizing $80 mark for a fill up with premium.brickwall

I'll put it to you this way: gas isn't so expensive that you've given up the Astra... in Edmonton it's currently a buck-nine a liter, guessing Ontario's a fair bit more, but still...

When gas does higher, people will mostly scramble to an affordable 2nd or 3rd car like a cruze or focus. We seen that happen last month when sales shot up for both.
