Is GM trying to fuck Kokomo, Indiana?

http://kokomotribune.com/local/x10412222...eal-denied GM filed the appeal with the Howard County Property Tax Assessment Board of Review after Center Township Assessor Sheila Pullen raised to $217.9 million the assessed value on the personal property from facilities purchased from Delphi Electronics & Safety after its emergence from bankruptcy. Earlier in the year, GM submitted an assessed value of $7.4 million for 2010 taxes payable in 2011. The year before Delphi showed an assessed value of $217.9 million. “What this all boils down to is a question of property value,” Howard County Assessor Jamie Shepherd said, “and GM has failed to support its proposed 96 percent decrease in assessed value. If GM is successful in valuing its personal property located in its state-of-the-art Kokomo facility at only $7.5 million, the resulting decrease in assessed valuation would shift approximately $6.3 million in taxes to Howard County homeowners and businesses.”

That's a big difference.
I would say that the $217.9 million is most likely way to high yet the $7.4 million is also way to low. Oh one more point, I can't believe that their much good to fuck in Kokomo anyway! Why don't you knock it off with them negative waves? Why don't you dig how beautiful it is out here? Why don't you say something righteous and hopeful for a change? |

How much do most counties collect in taxes? $6.3M seems like a hell of a lot from one business.
It does seem that GM's estimate is terribly low, but I'd imagine the County's estimate is too high. __________________________________________________

GM makes me wonder sometimes. Theey say they are American and are owned by the gov't yet half of their production is in either Canada,Mexico,or Europe.

That's not he amount of tax. That's what they say their huge complex of plants is worth. The tax would be a fraction of that.
