DETROIT – The Chevrolet Silverado, the longest-lasting, most-dependable full-size pickup on the road, shows off how reliable it really is in a 60-second ad that will air during the first quarter of Super Bowl XLVI on Sunday.

The ad, called “2012”, shows the Silverado navigating the devastation and destruction predicted to occur this year by the Mayan calendar. A group of friends, who are Silverado owners, makes its way to the designated meeting spot but notice one of their buddies is missing. The missing friend, unfortunately, drives another manufacturer’s truck and doesn’t appear to have made it to the meeting point.

The Silverado ad is one of five spots that Chevrolet is debuting on Super Bowl Sunday.

i feel like they could have done much more with this ad, but i found it enjoyable

I find New GM ads to have great ideas, but could have better execution. Some just look awkward because of it.

In all seriousness, this ad brings up a good point. The Silverado is the longest lasting pickup on the road today, which means people replace them less often then say the F-150. Thus the F-150 would naturally outsell the Silverado.
