A senior source at Lamborghini's parent company, Audi, has confirmed reports that the Italian supercar maker is close to revealing a dramatically styled and luxuriously equipped SUV/crossover concept.

"I can't comment in detail but the speculation in the press is largely correct," an Audi manager said when questioned about reports outlining plans by Lamborghini to gauge public response to a successor to the famed LM002 with a new SUV concept.

Set to get its first public airing at the Beijing motor show in late April, the new SUV/crossover will extend the current Lamborghini lineup, joining the successor to today's Gallardo and the recently introduced Aventador in what will at least be a three model lineup beginning in 2016. Lamborghini has not confirmed the reports.

Why? Unless its a reboot of the insanity that was the LM002 , whats the point? They already have the Cayenne living under the same umbrella...

Petition for a new LM002 or nothing, those are Lamborghini's only valid choices. Stupid VW....doing what GM did except with luxury/exotics.

With Lambo I can only assume it will have a 12 cylinder under the hood. The only V12 SUV available in the US. Looks great but too far out of the range.

Except VW always gets it right...

I'm looking forward to this. It's going to be the most desired SUV in the world. At the time of the LM002 the idea of luxury and exotic SUVs was complete nonsense. Today you have every mainstream luxury automaker producing multiple SUVs, and companies like Maserati and Bentley with their own on the way.
