Toyota now expects its plug-in Prius to be rated by the U.S. as getting 50 miles per gallon in combined city and highway driving running solely as a hybrid, and 95 mpg-equivalent when its lithium-ion battery pack is frequently charged. Volt, which can go more than 30 miles on a charge, is rated at 37 mpg after that and 94 mpg-e when drivers mainly rely on battery power.

“It’s still an estimate, but we are confident it’s going to be 95,” Bob Carter, group vice president of Toyota’s U.S. sales unit, told reporters in La Jolla, California, yesterday. An official rating by the Environmental Protection Agency will come “in a couple weeks,” with deliveries starting in March, he said.

Should not be hard to do.
The new Fusion PHEV gets much better fuel economy….as a mid size. Prius is a compact in physical size, although labeled curiously as a mid, simply because of interior roominess.

That is a factually incorrect statement. The Volt relies soley on battery power during charge depletion mode.

The Prius, because the traction motor can not meet all driver torque demands in charge depletion mode, must turn on the ICE, thus mainly or partly relying on the battery.

In other news, the Prius still looks like a door stop, ensures that you are regarded as a cheap douche bag and your money still goes to Japan. But please sheeple, make your purchase...laugh

Both get good mileage. I'd rather take the one that doesn't look like shit.

Better yet, I wouldn't buy either.
