President Barack Obama on Tuesday hailed the rebound of the U.S. auto industry, trumpeting an economic story he hopes to use to his political advantage in key Rust Belt states such as Michigan and Ohio.

rockon #teamobama #teamusa

“The build sheet is the wish list of any racer: lightweight high-revving dry-sump LS7 engine; carbon-ceramic brakes; integrated coolers; true aerodynamic downforce, and a significant reduction in curb weight. This car could only come from Chevrolet, and could only be called the Z/28.”

If I were Obama the auto bailouts are my biggest economic success story and I would sell the heck out of them in running for re-election.

The flipside is that the green loans to Solyndra and others cost more and returned far, far less.

It will be interesting to see which story sticks.

That Camaro was built in Canada, but that's o.k., we're your pals, right?

The China price was a known problem for the solar industry before Solyndra wrote its business plan or got federal funding. It was a bad bet.

But of course, it can be argued that GM and Chrysler were bad bets too, and especially Chrysler is a huge economic return.

It might prove that saving jobs for companies with an established customer base is easier than creating start-up manufacturing jobs in world competition.

I'll admit, I don't usually like paint jobs like that but that Camaro looks sick.
