GM Military Discount’s Red, White and Cruze Sweepstakes awards nearly $80,000

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Staff Sgt. Brian Nagy went surfing for a car to replace his family’s aging minivan, and ended up winning a Cruze – a fully loaded, 2012 Chevrolet Cruze.

Nagy, 33, of Columbus, won the grand prize in the Red, White and Cruze sweepstakes, sponsored by Chevrolet and GM Military Discount. Nagy, his wife, Meghan and two sons were picking up the family’s new Black Granite Cruze LTZ today at Dave Gill Chevrolet in Columbus. With an MSRP of $26,990, it includes the RS body package, sunroof, premium audio system and seven-inch touch screen navigation.

Nagy is an information technology specialist with the federal government and a member of the Ohio Army National Guard’s 371st Sustainment Brigade. During his 15 years with the Guard, Nagy served in Iraq and in 2009 helped with critical communications support for the inauguration of President Barack Obama.

“I didn’t expect to win, so when I got the call, I was pretty excited,” said Nagy, who has since donated the minivan to charity. He’ll break in the Cruze soon, when he heads to Ft. Gordon in Georgia for three months of training.

“I offered to leave the car home, but my wife said, ‘You won it, you should drive it,’ ” he said.

The Red, White and Cruze sweepstakes ran from June 5 to Oct. 31, 2011, and attracted more than 48,000 entries from active-duty military members and reservists and their spouses across all military branches.

Besides the grand prize, awards included 100 gift cards of $100 each; and 1,000 Chevrolet Certified Service packages for an oil change, 27-point vehicle inspection and tire rotation, worth $40 each.

“At Chevrolet, we are extremely grateful for the service of our men and women in uniform, as well as their families,” said Chris Perry, Chevrolet vice president for global marketing. “It’s why our history of military support includes the industry’s most generous discounts, as well as other initiatives that support both active and retired military men and women.”

GM’s Buick and GMC brands also extend military discounts to current and retired members of the military and their spouses. For more information on all eligible Chevrolet, Buick and GMC models and how to participate, visit gmmilitarydiscount.com.

rockon

Awesomeeeeee

“The build sheet is the wish list of any racer: lightweight high-revving dry-sump LS7 engine; carbon-ceramic brakes; integrated coolers; true aerodynamic downforce, and a significant reduction in curb weight. This car could only come from Chevrolet, and could only be called the Z/28.”

A $27000 Cruze? frak THAT! I'll get a Camry Hybrid any day and blow the doors off of it and get better mileage the whole time for that price.

Well I have a suggestion to you... why don't you write Toyota and tell them to give the soldier a Camry!

This is about a car company giving away a car but you have to come in with you're pathetic troll attempt to try and bring Toyota into the discussion facepalm

I applaud them giving it to him but laugh that a Cruze can be loaded up to $27,000. Not trollish.

Yes it is trollish that you come into a thread trying to promote another automaker... especially when this has to do with a car company giving away a car.

Why do you care so much... its not like your going to be buying a Cruze anywho. There are several compact cars that can be loaded up to $27,000, you might not think it's worth it but a lot do. Its called opinions.

True I should have left Toyota out of this but a $27000 compact car in this country is ludicrous.

At least GM has an economy car that can be priced over $20,000 and not be laughed at unlike the ancient POS Corolla.laugh

GM and Ford now have the best compact cars, with what I'm seeing from the Dart it will also be a very serious contender so IMO this is freakin sweet!
