“Tacoma is the volume leader. We know that there’s a buyer for a really good Chevrolet lifestyle sport truck that’s quite different than the Tacoma.” Different how? Reuss and his colleagues won’t say. But, having seen the Asian-market Colorado, we’re not expecting any dramatic differences between it and the truck Chevy sells here. The U.S.-market Colorado will still be a body-on-frame affair, after all. And we already know what it looks like, inside and out.

Thats cool and all, but I honestly still don't see a reason to keep GMC. I haven't seen a legitimate reason, in my opinion to keep them. I know they sell huge trucks (I mean 6500 and bigger) as commercial trucks but I don't see why Chevy can't just take their customer base as they're the same thing. Someone mind explaining this to me. Casa?

I love pussy, I love bitches, dude I should be runnin' PETA.

1.) I'm not sure it costs much to keep them around (they don't have any unique vehicles)
2.) Buick dealers would probably be hostile to the idea of losing them

It might be a little inefficient, but GM probably doesn't see a change as being worth the trouble (especially when GMC is making money).

Although I'm not a fan of the plain model, I do like the ZR2 concept! I think it looks badass :yeeees:

Now as for a GMC variant to this... I really don't see the point but when it comes to the full size Sierra - most definitely especially if GM plans to take the GMC version upscale. GMC has some loyal followers and as its been mentioned already... they bring good money to GM

Rev, you need to look at GM as two car companies.
Chevrolet sells cars, light trucks and commercial vehicles ranging from the entry level market to the near lux ( maybe Premium Mainstream would be more accurate) while the combined Buick Cadillac and GMC sell cars, light trucks and Commercial vehicles That tend to start at the near luxury level and range to true luxury vehicles.
Yes the base Sierra and Canyon are essentially identical to the Chevy versions, as are the Commercial offerrings, but the POV of the purchaser is what makes the difference.
People that buy GMC buy them because they dont want what everyone else has. Namely, an F150 or Silverado.
Odds are, the guy buying a couple WT Sierras for his remodeling or landscaping company also has an Acadia or Enclave or Escalade for his wife as opposed to an Explorer or Traverse.
They might even own a Chrysler product. I was always fascinated when, on Pontiac day at the races, I saw Ram 2500's with GTO's and Firebirds on their trailers. When I talked to a few of them, they all said it was because they didnt want a Chevy. Its the same with most GMC owners.
If there werent people who think that way, where would Mazda be?

If this were still the late seventies or the eighties, I might have agreed with you. Those trucks were identical, and most buyers knew what they were getting. Once they started making them look different, They gained a loyal following.

I like this idea but they also need to make it small and use different type of engines to make it viable against a Silverado.

The best there was and the best there ever will be.
