The rear doesn't seem to flow in my opinion but it does look cleanly executed. The front is aggressive and the rear is smooth which makes me wonder what happened for a style like this to work on a compact is hard but it looks great and I really like the interior.

I don't think the Civic and Corolla should be singled out for sales dents. This thing looks prime to take sales from everything in the class, nothing is safe. Time will tell how well this does, but it seems to have the sporty flair of the new Focus IMHO, which was outsold by even the de-contented Jetta. Is this too aggressive for the average consumer? Not sure, but the Cruze has shown the right balance of sport with conservative is a win with consumers....either way, it's good to see Dodge putting out something that's very compelling in this segment, considering the epic fail of the Caliber before this and letting the Neon become stale too.

A four speed automatic transmission on an "all new" product from a corporation that made more profit than any other in the last 15 years is "half assed". What great new ICE technology was introduced?

Honda even admitted that they skimped on the redesign of the Civic to save money. The interior looks like they took the late 1990s injection molding out of mothballs for another go round. The exterior styling changes show less differences in metal bending than the MCE done by Ford to create the present Taurus from the old Taurus. Same five speed automatic? Yep. Any new ICE technology? Nope.

IOW, call what Toyota and Honda did what it is - a refresh or MCE, otherwise it is a half ass attempt at "all new".

The point is that both "all new" products are dated with respect to other compacts with respect to cutting edge styling and new technology from the get go.

Now, if they are willing to offer the Civic and Corolla for about $2000 less vs the Cruze, Focus, Elantra or Dart - fine.

Excuse my ignorance, but was there an all new Corolla? The Civic was all new, but was there an all new Corolla or just a refresh? I thought it was just a refresh and they named it as such....unless I missed something.

Now with the Civic, yes Honda stated they skimped on the Civic and certain things were de-contented in ways. They began designing the Civic when the economy was at a really low point and wrongly assumed consumers would still buy the Civic with the lower quality materials and things of that nature. In a way they were right since it still sold 221,000 units last year, keeping it a top 3 best seller, but wrong in which it was murdered in the press for such actions and reception was very luke warm.

Although the Civic still has the same old 5 speed auto, FE according to the EPA and real world mileage, are still near top of the class, one that includes the use of Direct Injection, 6 speed autos, dual clutch transmissions and smaller displacement turbo four engines. That should be commended honestly.

Luckily Honda has realized their mistake and are trying to make a better Civic for 2013. We can't hold this over their heads. That would be like discrediting the very impressive vehicles the D3 are producing now in comparison to the ones they put out in the past when American's were buying them and helping them profit (like the Caliber, Cobalt and others).

But back to the Dart, this car looks very impressive. I want to see it in person.
