There for sure is room for all, but everyone is different and shouldn't be based on one definition. That's all I was saying.

It's not so much fun when the shoe is on the other foot, is it? As a Chrysler enthusiast, I have listened to it all from the foreign automobile fans, but it was always acceptable to bash American products by so called true American's. Well, the tables have turned, and the Japanese are lagging behind. Plymouth 'Cuda The quintessential musclecar. |

Honestly, and this is the honest to God truth, I don't really care. I guess that's just been my approach to cars. I am a Honda lover all day and night, but regardless of them being on top or being bashed as of late, it doesn't really cross my mind and didn't then either, good or bad. It's a car brand I have no ties to whatsoever, ya know? They don't pay my bills or my endless college loans. Yes, I like what they do and always support them, but I just don't give it that much brain power. Like now, you said "the Japanese are lagging behind". Great. I'm still about to cut my laptop off and snore loudly in my bed even though it was said. Just like my love for Alicia Keys. For YEARS people told me she was a lesbian and I still was grooving to her music and singing LOUDLY when it was on the radio. That's just how I am I guess....but do have a good night

My take
Why would you not support domestic companies when the product they are making is as good or better than the imported products.

Well, Honda and Toyota are to some degree lagging behind and I don't mean in quality but in terms of updating their bread and butter cars. Isn't that what almost killed GM and Chrysler? While Toyota seems to be getting back on pace as far as sales, Honda looks to be losing traction. I for one don't want to see that happen. You may think I am picking on Toyota or Honda, but I am not the only one who feels that way. I have run into several Japanese automobile fans that feel the same way. You may not believe this but I think it is great that you support Honda. Choice is better than no choice at all. I love my '09 Challenger but it would be a boring world if everyone drove one. It's nice to see them around and I do everyday but it is nice to see other makes and models too. As for your other comments, I have heard of Alicia Keys but her music is too new to me. I listen to sixties and seventies classic rock. That is my burden. I am old. Oh, I am heading upstairs to put on my iPod. I may listen to Elton John. Always smooth, don't get uptight over anything that is posted here. Most of it is just someone's opinion or casual observations, and nothing more. Plymouth 'Cuda The quintessential musclecar. |

RE: The foreign vs domestic debate is DEAD.. and the domestics have seemingly won
Personal preference? Freedom of.choice? IPhone vs Android? taste is probably the main reason. Two cars could be equals, but if you don't like something about one you pick the other. I know people like to say support your own, but that shouldn't be a pick and choose type of thing ya know? It's fine to sprout out support America and buy American, but when your TV is made in Japan, your phone in China and other items in your house are from anywhere but America, including the clothes on your back, which message are you sending? Granted those items don't cost as much as cars but still.....

That's all I was saying. I always get told to not be upright about stuff, but when I post it, I'm never upset or uptight. I'm relaxed. To me, and this isn't to talk about anyone or what we do on here, this us little stuff. Cars, disagreements about them, agreement, the whole 9. It's not real important in the grand scheme of things to me anymore. There was a time when I was dumb and taking everything to heart, not just on here, but times have changed. I'm just in a better place now I guess and what used to seem so detrimental to life just isn't anymore......although I still love cars, the focus has shifted. Just part of growing up I guess. ![]() And no you aren't picking on Honda. I'm a fan of theirs, not a stan. A fan will help them get better. A stan always feels things are better and that is just not the case with my current Honda Motor Company. Also, put on Bennie and the Jets if you're gonna put on some Elton. That's a pop classic as well as an r&b crossover of his as we all know! *sips tea* |

RE: The foreign vs domestic debate is DEAD.. and the domestics have seemingly won
Well truth be told, no American car is 100% American. No Japanese car is 100% Japanese. No European car is 100% European. Parts are manufactured in China, some American and European cars are manufactured in the U.S. Mexico or Canada, and some Japanese cars are manufactured in the U.S..
![]() Like I said, I think it is great you support Honda. They have designed and built brilliant products over the years. By the way, oldest brother is a Honda fan and owns a 2010 Acura RL. My other brother own's a 2005 Ram and 2011 Corolla S. My daily driver is a 2002 Stratus RT which is a Dodge bodied Mitsubishi Eclipse. Between my dad, mom, and brother's, we have owned: Dodge, Chrysler, Plymouth, Ford, Mercury, Chevrolet, Pontiac, Fiat, Volkswagen, BMW, Acura, Honda, Toyota, Nissan, Mitsubishi, and Suzuki(I may have missed one) so It is not like I haven't been around a variety of manufacturer's. All of them had good points and bad points but the Mopar's always impressed me the most. That's my story for good or bad depending on which side of the fence you are on. RE: The foreign vs domestic debate is DEAD.. and the domestics have seemingly won
If someone has found what they like and stick with it, I have no problems with that at all. I want you to like Dodge. I want someone to like Honda. I want someone to hate them too. If we all liked the same stuff, this world would be really boring. I mean, honestly, Honda has never been the most exciting to me, even in their prime. It would SUCK if we all drove Civics and Accords and whatnot. Variety is wonderful.
