Cadillac to raise prices on future vehicles to match German rivals - car fanatics - 11-01-2012 04:22 PM Source Photo credit: Cadillac Cadillac plans to raise prices of its future vehicles to match, roughly, their German rivals, part of a plan to win more credibility from luxury shoppers. The CTS sedan, for example, is similar in size to the BMW 5 series, but the base 5 series is more than $8,000 more expensive than the base CTS. That price gap will narrow for the next-generation CTS and other Cadillac vehicles, says Don Butler, Cadillac's vice president of marketing. The redesigned CTS is scheduled for the 2014 model year. "You can expect that as we develop products that are targeted to go after the best in the segment, that from a pricing standpoint they're going to be very similar," Butler said last week on the sidelines of the J.D. Power and Associates Automotive Marketing Round-table here. RE: Cadillac to raise prices on future vehicles to match German rivals - McLovin - 11-01-2012 04:54 PM Should they not match quality first? RE: Cadillac to raise prices on future vehicles to match German rivals - AF - 11-01-2012 05:35 PM Umm why? Like Wings said, they should match their quality before mimicking prices... One of Cadilacs selling points is value... RE: Cadillac to raise prices on future vehicles to match German rivals - TaurusSHO - 11-01-2012 05:44 PM Too early to raise prices. I'd wait until after the next CTS. RE: Cadillac to raise prices on future vehicles to match German rivals - Brown_Pride - 11-02-2012 01:43 AM You can't raise prices on an inferior product. GM should just stick with making Cadillacs sell on the bargain-factor for now. There is nothing inferior about the ATS! Hell, even Edmunds said the CTS-V is a better car than the M5! But it basically comes down to this: Somehow the white coats in Munich made the 2013 BMW M5 more powerful and quicker and they've given it more grip, but they forgot something — the emotion. Where's the excitement? Where's the visceral thrill? Where's the M5's sinister evil twin? Oh, that's right, it's down the street at the Cadillac dealer. It's called the CTS-V. RE: Cadillac to raise prices on future vehicles to match German rivals - REVolution - 11-02-2012 10:38 AM Their quality is fine with the ATS. The next CTS will probably be great also.
RE: Cadillac to raise prices on future vehicles to match German rivals - MEGAS XLR32 - 11-02-2012 10:42 AM True but like others have said this is first model year of the ATS. Wait til it catches on and starts selling in numbers than adjust the price. For now bring in conquest buyers with the value agruement. Like Wings said, they should match their quality before mimicking prices... The ATS matches the BMW 3 very well... Also how do you know the quality of the next CTS? Maybe Lincoln should lower their prices to match it's Ford siblings since they're basically the same vehicles... Then maybe... just maybe Lincoln wouldn't be a sinking ship

If you would like I can find 3 or 4 comparison tests saying the ///M5 is better than the CTS-V. Just let me know and I'll do it. RE: Cadillac to raise prices on future vehicles to match German rivals - Brown_Pride - 11-02-2012 11:59 AM In all reality though, in order to improve its brand image and truly compete with Germany and Lexus, Cadillac cannot keep selling cars based on its value principle. It should be their ultimate goal to sell as many cars as BMW with similar transaction prices for comparable models. That will take years though. If that helps make you sleep better at night go right ahead. For someone that can't afford nor has 1/10 the skill to drive these cars the way that they were designed to be pushed your thoughts are pretty meaningless. Did you read about my time behind the wheel of the CTS-V on the track? Jaybird & the CTS-V RE: Cadillac to raise prices on future vehicles to match German rivals - jspookss - 11-02-2012 04:16 PM Sounds about right. Cadillac has been playing their value strategy because they had to. As they flesh out their lineup with better products, they won't have to. RE: Cadillac to raise prices on future vehicles to match German rivals - REVolution - 11-02-2012 07:26 PM What is it with people and sales volume? If they are making profits and their transaction prices are higher than their cost compared to other manufacturers, I doubt they would complain at all. Obviously U haven't been in a recent Caddy in a while. Second.. This is EXACTLY the shit I'm talking about pertaining to U. More often than not U talk shit about things that U have no knowledge about in an attempt to belittle GM even when its a fuckin Foreign competitor. It's sad What makes it worse is that I bet good money that U haven't stepped into a BEnz or BMW either. MAn.. seriously.. I wish someone would walk up to U and smoosh some shit (feces) in your eyes. |
