Which do we prefer? Nine speeds or a CVT?

As a cyclist, I guess I will go with the nine speeds, though I have nothing against a CVT.

I guess the real questions is which is cheaper to produce?

Ford gave up their CVT which I assume was due to cost. I thought it was a fine transmission in my Freestyle.

RR, Road or Mountain?

I ride a mountain bike because I find them easier and safer to transition from urban to trail to road in Montgomery, County. My mountain skills are 1/10. I can jump curves to stay aliveyeeees I like the upright posture that allows me to see all the cars. I live right by Liesure World - home of old semi-blind retirees wavering along the road in gold Camrys with vinyl tops.

I inherited a home in Northern Michigan, by Oscoda. I think I will keep a road bike up there.

My brother is road cyclist, He has done a couple of centuries.

The DC metro area is great for cycling. To bad Metro Detroit is behind.

How's Chicago for cycling?

I live out west, so you still have some nice two lane country roads with corn or soybeans around you that don't get much traffic. Just like what I grew up riding on outside Monroe.

I've had a great summer riding so far. Doing a century 9/23.

Back in the day, when Metro Detroit was more rural, I used to cycle from 7 mile and Lahser to Kensington Metropark. It sucked getting to Farmington. But after that, Grand River was three lanes, farms, and just the whizz of the bike wheels. I used to stop at one of those old rural party stores and gulp down two 16 ounce Dr Peppers.

I have the heart and lungs to do a century it takes a lot of training to get used to all that saddle time.

IMHO, cycling is the best form of basic exercise a man can do - it carries over to the one reciprocating activity I can think of more fun that cycling.

Viel Gluck on the Century.

i'm more interested in the SRT-4, the Liberty, refreshed GC, small Jeep, and refreshed Durango that they showed the dealers. but mainly the SRT-4

That's quite a ride all the way out Grand River to Kensington!

Cycling is excellent for keeping lower body strength which is highly important I totally agree!

As a fellow cyclist (Well not really, but I ride a bike to and from work rofl ) I would like to see a CVT on bikes. tounge

I've gotta say I'm super interested in seeing the next gen 200 and Avenger. The 9th gear I would assume was added on to the already exist 8 speed somehow, allowing the to potentially hit the 38MPG mark.

Nine is too damn much.

well, the 9spd is actually a FWD transmission...

Avenger is going to be RWD with the 8spd

200 will be FWD with the 9spd.

atleast thats what they want us to think.... they may just flip flop them on us at the last second
