The 2015 Nissan Z will be lighter and leaner - car fanatics - 07-11-2012 06:39 PM Source Photo credit: Nissan July 11, 2012 By: CF staff Presumably, a lighter Nissan Z would return better gas mileage than the current version. The 2013 Nissan 370Z returns 19 mpg in city driving and 26 mpg on the highway, according to the EPA. The 370Z coupe has a curb weight of 3,314 pounds. "It cannot be any larger," he says. "It's at its maximum size now and should go leaner." By that he means lighter too, with the new model to feature a down-sized engine, probably a four-cylinder turbo rather than today's 3.7-liter V6. "It needs to be lighter, and more accessible to open the door to more people," he adds. Nissan must also juggle the product planning implications of this move to a lighter, leaner, downsized Z, because the current car not only shares its FM platform with the conceptually close Infiniti G Coupe, but also the G sedan and the Infiniti FX. None of that top 40 Lady Gaga bullshit - ? - 07-12-2012 02:31 AM Too mainstream... 2015 Nissan Z will be lighter, leaner & appeal to a more mainstream audience - Speed Devil - 07-12-2012 11:52 AM Bullshit, they should just bring over a Silvia instead and let the Z be a Z, just with some tweakings to it (but still a 3xx) How can they go wrong with a Silvia other than the inital sales and some slight cannibalization (Of course, if ya want a 2 seater, a v6 or a convertible, go Z) Da fuq? I had to change the subject title? - Gixser995 - 07-12-2012 12:46 PM No 4 cylinder, keep the V6. The Z has always been a 6 cylinder. If they want a 4 cylinder car, bring back the 240SX or the Silvia like Speedy said. RE: The 2015 Nissan Z will be lighter - jspookss - 07-12-2012 12:50 PM Why does the gas mileage suck so bad? RE: The 2015 Nissan Z will be lighter - jspookss - 07-12-2012 12:57 PM Stop making the subject titles so motherfucking long! 2015 Nissan Z will be lighter, leaner and appeal to a more mainstream audience - Speed Devil - 07-12-2012 01:30 PM Next to the GTR, the Z is the halo car, why ruin it when you can make an entry level sports car Whats next, a 4banger GTR?
Oh my God. You lIke Coldplay? Yeah right. Totally not mainstream like,... - ? - 07-12-2012 07:23 PM The Nissan consortium have too many sports cars. Cars aren't even a sport. RE: The 2015 Nissan Z will be lighter, - MOPAR74 - 07-12-2012 07:53 PM NO 4cyl issan Z will be lighter, leaner and appeal to a more mainstream audience - REVolution - 07-12-2012 08:04 PM Its not a Z car if it doesn' t have a 6cyl. RE: The 2015 Nissan Z will be lighter and leaner - SRTChallenger-Man - 07-12-2012 09:53 PM I have the highest amount of respect for nissan and their ability to create great sports, so why the hell would they get rid of the fantastic vq V6, for a god damn 4 cylinder, i dont care ifs its turbo, the new car still wont be a feather weight even with weight reduction, so why???? To me there is no reason, whats next a CVT for it??, if they want a smaller 4 clylinder sports car then build it, dont fuck with the damn Z. Jesus hondas already fucked their sports cars, Nissan for the love of all thats great please dont ruin yours. RE: The 2015 Nissan Z will be lighter - LovemyPathfinder - 07-13-2012 07:17 AM SD, there really isnt a market for two sports cars in a brand. The Z won't sell as many if that happens. IMO, they should just have two engine option. Turbo charged 1.8 liter 4 and and a twin turbo 3.0 six with DI and charge a pretty penny for it too. jspookss;217937 Wrote:Why does the gas mileage suck so bad? I think 26 is good for a sports car. ![]() IT's gear ratios are too close and throttle is to sensitive and abrupt... which i like. On the highway even in 6th at 80 your cruising really close to 3000 rpm's. Needs a 7th gear.. lol.
