Redsky, no offense intended, but Cadillac could care less what you think about the XTS because you are not the target market. You are not a willing and able player with money to spend on an executive sedan.

For its target market, it is exceptional and beautiful.

More variants will follow with some of those options like 8-speeds and AWD that people mention above. (I want Super Cruise.) But out the door, focusing on what it does, not how it does it, the XTS is fully competitive, and arguably better than the competition because it matches or exceeds the competition for what is truly a great price. My natural comparisons like a Jaguar XJ ($74,000) or Audi A8 ($79,000) are much more expensive.

I'm highly confident based on the recent SRX that this will not only fully replace the DTS and predecessors, but increase Cadillac sales.

Now, I'd be more interested in what young aspiring sales people and professionals think about the ATS. This is a new target market for Cadillac. BMW may be the easy answer for this demographic. Can Cadillac earn a shot at the short list for consideration with the ATS?

For its target market

You cannot simply compare XTS to XJ/A8/LS/7 and S. Its still classless, like Equus.

I don't know as I could overcome the exterior styling (unless in person it looks better than pics), but the interior might make up for it.

Having seen the XTS in person the exterior styling does look much better in person. For a large car, they do a great job of it not really looking large. That has always been my problem with the MKS. The real half of the car just looks so huge, like J Lo's ass.

I think the XTS is damn near perfect. If anything.. the German cars are vastly overpriced.. In reality.. my issue with the car is that Cadillac didn't release everything at once.. despite the explanation given.. they should have because all XTS potential customers are not gonna be current DTS/STS ones. a BIGGER engine is pretty much what I'm bitching about. 400+HP is waiting on the 8Speed I'm betting.. and GM could have gone the Chrysler route and just sourced one for the time being. But like all GM cars.. including the next Vette.. I'll be waiting to the 2nd or 3rd year to buy.. simply because U KNO THEY ARE GONNA CHANGE SOME SHIT to make it even better. Proof???

2005 Corvette LS2 and shitty steering wheel gets upgraded to LS3, better shifting tranny and better interior in 2008. 2010 the Wide Body Grand Sport arrives sporting all the Z06's looks but capablity of convertible or targa.

just one example

I can agree with your strategy Casa - it's always the mid-cycle refresh (MCR) cars that are the ones to get. You think GM will have the MCR of this car ready in 3 years?

Another strategy would be to do a 3-year lease on this one now, and replace it with a custom-ordered MCR in 3 years. Cadillac will probably offer a waiver of the last 3 payments to do an early upgrade and spot you some loyalty money. You just have to find out how low GM's money factor is and if the residual is strong.

Well. Leasing is the way to go when the C7 comes out for me... next Caddy too considering that I put maybe... 4-6K on each per year (CTS-V has 18K on it right now after 3 years, and Vette has 15K after 4 years). I could get a 10 or 12K mile lease and be good to go each MCR. Both cars have been paid for since day 1 so right now I could technically go into a Chevy dealer and trade the Vette for that GS... hmmmmm badass

Anyway... I believe, and have heard that the 2014 model of the XTS will have amenities I so desire.. TT3.6L with that 425HP+, AWD and 8speed (not really a big deal except the need for it for the extra power and torque of the more powerful engine.. something I think Ford should have done for the SHO and MKS EB because of the similar co-Developed 6speed coupled to that engine is problematic from what I hear)

I sat in the XTS is Chicago and loved the interior. This car exudes luxury like no other car in its price range can.

This and the ATS makes me giddy for the future of Cadillac, I can only imagine how scared BMW and Mercedes are about this.

Their money is green and they have lots of it! Unlike you!

As always, your assumption is bogus.

That guy is an idiot. He comes off as so stupid I barely acknowledge he exists.

I can't stop laughing at the fact that he included the Lexus LS in that list.laugh This car may be slower, will do nothing if not catch that fat ass Camry in the twisties, as it handles (based on reviews and drive time of the Lacrosse) like a Z06badass vs... well ... an LS460:sad:

With each new car, Cadillac is getting closer to being the worlds best.

First we have the XTS, which isn't really in any class, but does just about everything well. Then we'll have the ATS, lighter and more powerful than the 3-Series. Then the CTS, which is gonna retain the boldness of the current CTS with a sleeker profile like the ATS. Then the Omega's, both the 7/S/XJ fighter and the Ciel with rape the worlds best.

Chrysler 300C.

The XTS looks pretty good but does have that nasty FWD styling faux pas. Rear looks vintage 80's El Dorado...which is not necessarily bad.

RE: 2013 Cadillac XTS First Drive Edmunds and Motor Trends. - docCarter - 05-25-2012 04:07 PM

I will say Vex, on the outside, the XTS does not win at all. At random angles, it looks good, but in profile, it looks like a weird bean, or suppository. The 300C beats in there.

On the inside though, XTS walks all over the 300C. The leather is just so soft! And it's everywhere!

I wouldn't even put a 300 in the same class as the Lacrosse... certainly not the CTS... and damn sure not the XTS. I'll give the Chrysler the props for having engine options... That's it. I'll never buy a car made by Italians

Well thats good, because the 300 is made by Canadians:2thumbsup:

Oh and you are high as FUCK if you think the LaCrosse is BETTER than the 300wtf

Spoken as only a true shill can speak...

NOBODY, with any sense of luxury AND PERFORMANCE, would take a LaCrosse over a 300C.

NOBODY!

I would like to see a heads on comparison between the a the lowest price XTS and a comp priced 300C...

My bets go with the 300C...without question.

RE: 2013 Cadillac XTS First Drive Edmunds and Motor Trends. - McLovin - 05-25-2012 06:07 PM

I have not seen the xts yet, but it looks very rich on the inside. Perhaps not as much as casa is building it up, way over the top, but let's be frank vex, before freshening, 300c was bottom drawer in luxury look and feel. It has come far, but that's about it.

My point is the price point. About for the entry level of the XTS, you can get a 300C SRT or a Taurus SHO...both of which I would take hands down over the XTS.

No doubt the XTS, especially at the upper limits, takes the 300C on luxury fittings. It should.

But let's compare a $45K XTS with a 300C SRT or Taurus SHO...and throw in a dated LaCrosse for Casa.

Any questions?
